My thoughts...
Our own spirit becomes alive when we accept Christ as our Savior. I am curious as to the part our spirit plays in our *born again* life.
To explain what I am referring to 1 Peter 3:18 1 Peter 3:18 (ESV)
18 For Christ also suffered once for sins, the righteous for the unrighteous, that he might bring us to God, being put to death in the flesh but made alive in the spirit,
I believe Peter refers to our spirit within in us. I know that we must worship *is spirit and in truth*.
I would ask the thoughts from Chris and the rest of the group for my edification.
Blessings.....

Chris,
The verses I referenced might not have happened but why would they be in our Bible (Instruction Book) if they weren't to be studied and understood?
When I study the Bible, I consider everything that is said on a particular subject. I believe these verses are here for us to consider as we study God and ourselves. I'm not trying to be argumentitive...but I believe to study this subject, we need to consider all reference to the word *spirit*. We can narrow it down to studying just the *Holy Spirit* but to completely understand, we need to understand our own spirit as well. For instance, I always thought that the spirit of all individuals fell asleep after *the fall*. As I started referencing the word *spirit* in the Bible, I realized that this wasn't exactly true. Rather, I am seeing that the spirit (of an individual) was put under the control of Satan. Mezmerized by him...so to speak.
The *lie* that I refer to is the lie of not believing the call of the Holy Spirit for our salvation but believing the lie of Satan, that he has placed in our spirit, to reject Christ for whatever reason.
Ever been aggrevated by a kid that asks why all the time? I am that kid. My *whys* are answered in the Word through understanding what *spirit* actually is.
In studying the Holy Spirit, we need to know about Him but we also have to know why unbelievers reject His call.
I'm sure you think I am *chasing rabbits* but I truly am not trying to portray that.
Another good topic would be the study of unbelievers vs believers. What are the differences? Do we really understand that? We often view a believer as an unbeliever because of what he knows to believe....because he doesn't believe as we do. At any rate...
Blessings to you, my Brother....

I have raised 8 kids I am OK with the question, "why." Let's think about it, 1Kings 22:17-23 17Then Micaiah told him, “In a vision I saw all Israel scattered on the mountains, like sheep without a shepherd. And the LORD said, ‘Their master has been killed. Send them home in peace.’” 18“Didn’t I tell you?” the king of Israel exclaimed to Jehoshaphat. “He never prophesies anything but trouble for me.” 19Then Micaiah continued, “Listen to what the LORD says! I saw the LORD sitting on his throne with all the armies of heaven around him, on his right and on his left. 20 And the LORD said, ‘Who can entice Ahab to go into battle against Ramoth-gilead so he can be killed?’ There were many suggestions, 21 and finally a spirit approached the LORD and said, ‘I can do it!’ 22“‘How will you do this?’ the LORD asked.“And the spirit replied, ‘I will go out and inspire all of Ahab’s prophets to speak lies.’ “‘You will succeed,’ said the LORD. ‘Go ahead and do it.’ 23“So you see, the LORD has put a lying spirit in the mouths of all your prophets. For the LORD has pronounced your doom.”
In verse 17 it seems clear of what is going to be, and it was. At verse 20 the Lord says, "‘Who can entice Ahab..." In Job we see it is satan and it has the suggestions. Here " all the armies of heaven around him, on his right and on his left.." Job 1:6 One day the members of the heavenly court came to present themselves before the LORD, and the Accuser, Satan, came with them.. Here we get the picture of God brain storming. I find that difficult maybe that is just me. In the NLT the last part There were many suggestions God is God He is able to do anything in anyway, this is hard for me to see it this way. In verses 21-22 21 and finally a spirit approached the LORD and said, ‘I can do it!’ 22“‘How will you do this?’ the LORD asked.“And the spirit replied, ‘I will go out and inspire all of Ahab’s prophets to speak lies.’ “‘You will succeed,’ said the LORD. ‘Go ahead and do it.’ Again this part is hard for me to believe happened.
When Jesus told parables they are very close to how this is described. This gives Micaiah a to tell the story. In 2Ch which is the same story. In verse 18:6 6 But Jehoshaphat asked, “Is there not also a prophet of the LORD here? Why, ask for a prophet of the Lord. Which leads me to believe the 400 prophets were not of the Lord but of Baal or just Ahab's, i could be wrong on that. I see this to be a way for Micaiah to tell this story and why he is telling something different. .“And the spirit replied, ‘I will go out and inspire all of Ahab’s prophets to speak lies.’ “‘You will succeed,’ said the LORD. ‘Go ahead and do it. This also gives a way for a prophet of the Lord to tell King Ahab of Israel, even though he was a very bad man, he was King of Israel.
Sister I do not think you are *chasing rabbits.* That is Elmer Fudd's job and I do not think you are him. I have no problem with any discussions. They are healthy and we benefit from them as long as, we do not come to blows. It is just how the entire scene is described. I can see it better as this is what God showed him, Micaiah had to sell it to these two Kings. However, like the parable's Jesus told, I can see this is how it was shown to the prophet.
We are both on the same side, and this will not be a point of contention for me, and I trust not for you. "In studying the Holy Spirit, we need to know about Him but we also have to know why unbelievers reject His call. " This is a good subject to study. I hope I shared enough of how and why I see this, is way. To study the Holy Ghost is very important to me. And, any reference of spirit is worth looking into.
Continue to let your Light Shine
