How do we know if an inspiration is from the Holy Spirit or if it's just us?

   First we must know Our Father knows where we are in our walk.  So, there are limits to what the enemy can do.   1Cor 10:13 The temptations in your life are no different from what others experience. And God is faithful. He will not allow the temptation to be more than you can stand. When you are tempted, he will show you a way out so that you can endure.  So we are protected by Our Father.  We know the Spirit will lead us according to the Word.  His leading will line up with the Spirit of the Word.  We will be edified, built up but not for pride.  The Glory will always go to Jesus.  

We will have Peace with the leading of the Spirit.  Again, the Spirit knows where we are in our walk, so things start out solid.  As the foundation always is, so His Peace is clear.  Our spirits will confirm what we are feeling lead into.

Phil 4:6-7 .6 Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank Him for all He has done. 7 Then you will experience God’s Peace, which exceeds anything we can understand. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus.

2Thess 2:16 Now may the Lord of peace Himself give you His Peace at all times and in every situation. The Lord be with you all.

John 14:27 “I am leaving you with a gift—peace of mind and heart. And the Peace I give is a Gift the world cannot give. So don’t be troubled or afraid.” These are the Words from Jesus.

Col 3:12-15 12 Since God chose you to be the holy people he loves, you must clothe yourselves with tenderhearted mercy, kindness, humility, gentleness, and patience. 13 Make allowance for each other’s faults, and forgive anyone who offends you. Remember, the Lord forgave you, so you must forgive others. 14 Above all, clothe yourselves with love, which binds us all together in perfect harmony. 15 And let the Peace that comes from Christ rule in your hearts. For as members of One Body you are called to live in Peace. And always be Thankful.

We must always operate with a humble heart.  As the Spirit leads us, it will be to fulfill God's Plan for others.  We will also be lead at times so we can learn and grow, the Spirit may show us things that will help us hear and understand better.  We may be shown Gifts we will work in.  Never forgetting the Glory goes to the Lord.

The enemy will attempt to lead us, we will get a check in our spirits (a feeling or knowledge that does not set well with us) in the beginning this will be loud and clear.  Not that it ever is unclear.  

We must always Pray about what we are sensing from the Spirit.  If it is from the enemy it will not stand.  To the last part of your question.  If it is us or the Spirit.  Spending time in Prayer will also clear that up.  Just because things sound right, does not mean they are.  We may think we should give money to one thing, yet we were suppose to hold on to the money for another reason.  Again, God knows our hearts.  So the Spirit will work and help in making things clear.  And, you always will find others around you, who will be able to help.  I hope this all made sense.  Let me know if you have any questions.

Chris, what about if it's a "good" plan yet how do I know if He has a better plan?

Breeze

   Follow His Word and His Peace.  He will not lead you past where you can go.  What I mean by that is, He is not going to ask you to follow Him where you cannot go.  It takes Faith to step out.  He Loves and Knows where you are.  His Peace along with His Word will lead you.  Spend time in Prayer and even fast if you are able to.  His Answers for you will become clear.  We operate in Faith and Hope, in His Love and His Kindness.  He will show you, look and you will see.  He will not take you past where you can go.  You may not know you can go there,  but Trust in His Word and Love.  You will find your way.

Well, when it aligns with the Word of God, what harm could it do if you took that step? You will know soon after starting whether or not it was the Spirit.

Honestly, sister Tammy, I'm not sure if it's just based on emotions or if it's from the Holy Spirit. With the way life is right now I'm not exactly thinking clearly....so that may play a part in it.

 

Honestly, I need His guidence...I'm not even really sure where to start.

  I love these words as they have a very comforting meaning.  Knowing our Heavenly Father is very important. Knowing that He is with us every step of the way. Knowing His Love  grace and Mercy.  Knowing His promises.

  Having said this we step out in faith belief and trust. We step out with an open heart in continual prayer. Will we always be right. I believe scripture tells us of course not. Our Heavenly Father is with us He will take our mistakes and work them for right. If we leave our personal agendas and seek His will  even in our mistakes His Glory will shine.

  The world can not understanding messing up royally and knowing it will be good. Having the peace of The Lord in the mess.
