All About GOD - Growing Relationships with Jesus and Others

I am have always heard of a fresh filling. I have laid hands on others, and had others lay hands on me for this reason. As I have gotten older and seen myself either, yield or dig my heels in on things I have been told. And, seen the results from both actions. I wonder if it is more as in 2Tim 1:6, “fan into flames the spiritual gift God gave you.” When we have slipped or fallen in our walk with the Lord. We can rededicate our lives. Yet, we do not consider being saved again. I know when most speak of a fresh filling, they are not talking to be Baptized in the Spirit once more. Having seen the importance of obedience. As we deny our flesh, yield and humble our wills, are we making more room for the Spirit? As we mature in Christ, open ourselves up to the Spirit, and as we see new things and old things in new ways. Is this at least in part, “Fresh Filling of the Spirit?”

Chris,

Great question! Being filled with the Spirit has to be more than once. I believe we are filled over and over and over. Sometimes our hearts get so heavy that we think we are going to break. We cry out to God that we need Him or we cannot go on. Living in the faith realm requires Him to fill us. The example of Elijah has already been used but what a glorious example of feeling so low we run. This is not a road we can navigate or walk on our own. Sometimes we need the power of God just to take the next step. Our own heart or spirit fails us over and over. We need to be filled over and over. We need to walk completely in His Spirit. How can we go on without His Spirit.

There is an old song we used to sing: "I Need Thee Every Hour." How many of us can identify with that. I sometimes pray, "Lord if You don't fill me, I cannot go another minute." We need Him to utter our next words or breathe our next breath.

I don't think He ever expects us to get to the place we can walk without Him. To have energy for the next day, we need His Spirit. If we are not fighting the enemy we might be able to do some on our own. As it is, I can do nothing on my own. I need a refilling over and over. My answer would be that fanning the flames would be something a little different. Sometimes our flame gets so dim it can barely be seen but it is there.

God bless you, Chris, for being led of God.

Lord Bless you Roy

"I Need Thee Every Hour."  I believe is a humble heart that wants the world to see Jesus, and knows that the only way is to be Filled with Him.   "Lord if You don't fill me, I cannot go another minute." I am able to identify with that, since you asked.

I do believe there is a place, where a person is so humbled and broken before the Lord.  That the Spirit is able to just flow and flow through that person.  If they need to be bold or gentle they are able.  If they need to give Words of Wisdom, Knowledge, or an answer another is seeking, they will be able to do so.  If it be His Will let us arrive there.

I have seen 2 Tim 1:6 to also mean, work on and improve the Gifts you are given.  To be prepared in and out of season, much like it seems Christine has shared.

Bless you Roy, I am grateful for your friendship.

PRAISE GOD CHRISTINE

Over all this time I have known you, and we have shared how we see things.  How we have and desire to  operated in the Spirit.   Look at you go!!!  Praise the Lord.  You just allowed yourself to be lead, then stepped out with Boldness in the Spirit.  I give God Glory for how you are growing, and becoming who you are in the Lord.

That when they look at us, they only see Jesus.

Amen

For me I think the one leads to the other. Most of what I believe revolves around the surrender aspect. One of the aspects of surrender is coming into alignment with God's will. God flows through us when we are in alignment, but ceases to work through us when we become misaligned. Therefore when we realign we open ourselves up to God working through us. To me this is the goal of being filled. Surrendered to Him, aligned with Him and Him working in and through us. To look at it from another angle we can be certain that God is not pleased with us when we live by self-will and are thus out of alignment with Him.

Another point to make. A born again child of God never does not have the Spirit of God living in them. The difference is whether He is flowing (working) through us and this is made possbile when we surrender unto Him.

My two pennies :-)

Lord Bless,

LT

We can never say enough about the need to, surrender; humble; yield, our need for Him.   If only they could all see that, Matt 11:30 For My yoke is easy to bear, and the burden I give you is light."

As we all learn to Trust Him an obey Him.  The Splendor that awaits us, helps balance the trouble we face now.

Yes, indeed.

Timothy's gift of the Holy Spirit was to be stirred & fresh fuel added constantly or the flame goes out or it just flickers. Kinda like a Christian that doesn't continue to grow, they become stagnant & like Lazarus, they stinketh.
