hi,
i've always had the feeling of being "on the outside" in social situations, and recently this has intensified to the point where i feel like the only people i can be relaxed and "myself" around are my husband and my son.
i get so uptight even in casual conversation with others, and its really annoying. how can i be a good witness to others when i'm like this? i think i'm definitely "that weird Christian girl" to others.
i'm sick of feeling so fake with others...
any insight is much appreciated!

Dear Charles,
Thank you for posting! What a wonderful thing the Lord has done and is doing in your life. I was really struck to hear about the obvious transformation the Lord did in you, bringing you from a shy fearful state to being able to speak boldly about the Lord to others.
I love what you shared, "As a wise man once told me ' peole may be able to argue circles around yur knowledge of the bible , but they will never be able to overcome your testimony'."
I suppose I just don't have much of a testimony at the moment, but does that just come with time? Does everyone get a testimony eventually? Is it a testimony to say, "I was lost and now am found"?
I have alot to learn...
Love,
Jenny
Sister, you sure do have a lot to learn-and I mean that in a good way!
You'll continue to grow in knowledge for the rest of your earthly life. For, everyday spent with Christ is another day filled with wisdom from the Holy Spirit.
In Christ,

thanks be to God!~ there is always more to learn about our Lord and Father
Amen
A life time as we walk this place. Then when we are in Heaven, if we have all understanding at that time, then we will spend Eternity enjoying all that we discover. Or, we will be able to discover Who the Father {Dad}, Jesus {Brother}, and Holy Spirit are. To discover all the layers; the sheer depth of Who God really is, a time we All long for. To His Name we Praise.
Lord Bless
Dear Jenny
You may very well have much more of a testimony than you realize .Every time we acknowledge that something that has happened is the Lord's work in you life it is a testimony. When you acknowledge your need for His help and guidance you are testifying to the fact that you believe that H e is willing and able to help . You are testifying to the fact that He is ' real ' and that He is who He said He is.
In Hebrews it states that " He who comes to God must believe that He ( God) is and that He is the rewarder of them that diligently seek Him.' In an earlier comment in this discussion you stated
" We'll enjoy each other's company inour Father's house I'm sure . " Here you are testifying to your confidence in the promise that Jesus left us with .
You asked " Is it a testimony to say , 'I was lost and now am found? '" . There is no more powerful testimony to be stated . To tell others who are lost that you have found your way through Jesus. That's what it's all about.
People many times aren't interested in scripture but will listen to someone who states that their life has been changed so drastcally that they can state that ' I was lost but now am found' . Testimonies are ( again , my opinion ) the vehicle God uses to allow us to relate to others . We bring Jesus from the pages of an old black book written in the first century to a very present reality .
My friend , we sometimes look at testimonies as being accounts of very dramatic or supernatural occurances when are greatest testimony is to expresss confidence in God to care for us here and now . People will relate to what's going on in their lives more that dramatic stories. And when we state that God is working now people will have a greater interest in what you have to say.
You said " I have a lot to learn." My dear friend I've know the Lord for nearly 35 years and have only begun to learn. Let your life speak for you . There's a wonderful poem that I don't have time to quote right now . It is called ' I'd rather see a sermon preached."
As Jesus said " let your light so shine that men may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven. Mt time on the computer is running out .
God bless
Charles, I thank the Lord for your reply and found much comfort in it.
These examples have given me a much better understanding of what "testifying" is.
Yes, testifying is living out our belief in God! Thanks for that clarity and simplicity.
and thanks for the poem, here it is for others...
I'd rather see a sermon than hear one any day;
I'd rather one should walk with me than merely tell the way.
The eye is a better pupil, more willing than the ear;
Fine counsel is confusing, but example is always clear,
And the best of all the preachers are the men who live their creeds,
For to see a good put in action is what everybody needs.
I can soon learn how to do it if you will let me see it done;
I can watch your hand in action, but your tongue too fast may run.
And the lectures you deliver may be very wise and true,
But I'd rather get my lesson by observing what you do.
For I may misunderstand you and the high advice you give,
But there is no misunderstanding how you act and how you live.
When I see a deed of kindness, I am eager to be kind.
When a weaker brother stumbles, and a strong man stands behind
Just to see if he can help him, then the wish grows strong in me
To become as big and thoughtful as I know that friend to be.
And all travelers can witness that the best of guides today
Is not the one who tells them, but the one who shows the way.
One good man teaches many; men believe what they behold;
One deed of kindness noted is worth forty that are told.
Who stands with men of honor learns to hold his honor dear,
For right living speaks a language which to everyone is clear.
Though an able speaker charms me with his eloquence, I say,
I'd rather see a sermon than hear one any day.

Jenny, have you ever heard of a film called "End of the Harvest"? It's a Christian film and there's a boy who is timid with his faith. I think it gets better for him. It's a film, I read that it's helpful in evengelicalizing or something like that. It may help you.
Love,
feetbreeze
