Why Jesus raised Lazarue

John 5:19-21

New International Version (NIV)

 ¹⁹ Jesus gave them this answer: “Very truly I tell you, the Son can do nothing by himself; he can do only what he sees his Father doing, because whatever the Father does the Son also does. ²⁰ For the Father loves the Son and shows him all he does. Yes, and he will show him even greater works than these, so that you will be amazed. ²¹ For just as the Father raises the dead and gives them life, even so the Son gives life to whom he is pleased to give it.

 

Jesus was showing us that He has power over death. Not just physical, but Spiritual death as well, for we also see him giving life to whome He wanted, Spiritual life.

 

He was also showing His glory, by doing what the Father and the Spirit can do and so they could be amazed.

John11: 41 -42 says "They took away the stone. Then Jesus looked up and said, Father, I thank you that you heard me

I knew that you always hear me. BUT I SAID THIS FOR THE BENEFIT OF THE PEOPLE STANDING HERE, THAT THEY MAY BELIEVE THAT YOU SENT ME.

John 11:45 Therefor many of the Jews who had come to visit Mary and had seen what Jesus did, put their FAITH IN HIM. Amen. Praise and glory to God.
