All About GOD

All About GOD - Growing Relationships with Jesus and Others

I've have a few friends who are Atheist and I've only been aware of their beliefs just recently when we started our fourth year in college.

The dilemma here is that there are some voices in my head that tell me to keep away from them. But I never did. Because they're my friends and despite the fact that they don't have the same beliefs like me, they're still my friends.

Have I done the right thing to not follow those voices?

Those voices could be the Holy Spirit telling you not to walk with them, the atheists.

Yuri

As others have said, and to add a few of my own thoughts.  The things about voices is, those that are of the Lord are able to be tested.  1John 4:2 This is how you can recognize God's Spirit: Every person who declares that Jesus Christ has come as a human has the Spirit that is from God.

1Cor 12:3 So I want you to know that no one speaking by God's Spirit says, "Jesus is cursed." No one can say, "Jesus is Lord," except by the Holy Spirit.

Actually 1John4 has many things to say on this subject.  Also, it take time and fellowship in the Spirit to truly know the Voice of the Lord.  There can be many reasons why, you were told what you have said.  One question I would have, why disobey?  Also, voices of the Spirit of God can be backed up in the Word.

1Cor 12 :2 You know that when you were unbelievers, every time you were led to worship false gods you were worshiping gods who couldn't even speak.
Eph 2:2 You followed the ways of this present world and its spiritual ruler. This ruler continues to work in people who refuse to obey God.
Eph 4:17 So I tell you and encourage you in the Lord's name not to live any longer like other people in the world. Their minds are set on worthless things.  We have more reasons to obey the Word of God then voices.  Not knowing how mature you are in the Lord, spending to much time with unbelievers can be as Char said dangerous.  If you begin to see, you are making more concession then they are coming to Jesus, that should tell you something.  I would advise you to spend more time in Prayer and study in the Word.  Especially before spending with them.  I do also have a feeling, you already know the answer to your question.  I trust that you consider what you decide to do.  As I do believe you would not be told something like this w/o a reason.  And there can be more then just two choices.  Hope this was helpful.  I will be lifting you up in my Prayers.

2 Corinthians 6:14-18  and more than 18 verses in the bible showing that light and darkness are not the same.

Yuri,

Constant association with *atheists* could could steal your own testimony. They do not believe in the existence of any god, let alone our God, Lord, Savior. Are you able get any of these friends to agree that there is a *God*. Are any of these friends being changed from *atheist* to *nonbeliever*? That seems a short step, but in truth, they are at least admitting there is a God. A nonbeliever at least has a chance to turn to Christ (whether they ever turn to Him or not.)

Personally, I don't believe in atheism. I can't see how a person doesn't believe that there is a *higher power* of some sort. There are too many things that we see on a day to day basis, that proves there is a *God*.

Is your testimony still holding firm? Are you holding onto God or do you find yourself slipping from the very thing, happening...that brought you to Christ in the first place?

People who call themselves *atheists* like the idea of being different. What they fail to realize is they can believe in Christ, accept Him as Savior and still be different. God doesn't group us together as one would a classification of animal. We are all separate individuals to Him. We are all different. We have different wants, needs, problems. God treats each of us as His individual child. He deals with us on a one on one basis. He deals with us as a parent would deal with a child.

The *voice* that you hear in your head is probably in your spirit, being the Holy Spirit, telling you to hold these people at arm's length. He already knows the eternal outcome for these *friends*.

I pray God strengthen you as you make a decision about moving these people from your *friends list* to your *acquaintance list*, in Jesus' Name....

Rita

Hi Yuri,

I'm not sure about the voices you are hearing... but I do know that God has only one voice.

I can speak from my personal experience on this...  It is heartbreaking to hang out with people who deny the Lord.

We are called to live as children of the light.  There is no reason to shut them out of your life, but I think you will likely find, that as you grow in your faith and obedience to the Lord, you will naturally separate from these folks simply because your interests are different.   In the meantime, make the most of every opportunity to show them God's love by your actions... Show them how you are different and stand up for what you know to be true by how you live.  They will take notice...even if they give you a hard time over it...they will stand up and take notice.

This verse is coming to mind:

psalm 37

5 Commit everything you do to the Lord.
Trust him, and he will help you.
6 He will make your innocence radiate like the dawn,
and the justice of your cause will shine like the noonday sun.

Make sure you are praying protection over yourself continually (over your heart and mind).  We all need to do that anyway...

Pray that God will use you amongst them.  I pray that God's will be done in this circumstance.  Keep your cool amongst them.  Don't let them upset you.  I understand they are your friends, but remember, they are unknowing slaves of satan, and satan will use them to attempt to fire darts at you.

Always wear the armour that God has given to us..Eph 6:10-18.  Remember it is a spiritual armour, not physical.

Bless you, Carla

Hi if you were to die today are you 100% assured that you would go to heaven?

Go to this, it is very important. I care where you will spend eternity.  I want to see you in Heaven one day.

Rapture is a big fat lie made up by the evil one.

Revelation 1:7 Look! He is coming with the clouds. Everyone will see him, even the ones who struck a sword through him.  All people on earth will weep because of him. Yes, it will happen! Amen.

In Revelation 6th trumpet is when Satan comes.

7th trumpet Christ comes.

Again, you are free to hold your view regarding the rapture, but your words and the verse you present do nto prove your point. You also are just dropping this all over the place. Please stay on topic in the  various forums. If this is something you want to discuss, start a forum regarding this topic.

Put Christ First

I believe that satan would like nothing better than to keep you away from such friends, because if you are a good example of a Christian and are a good friend to them, it might change their stigmas about Christians/Christianity and you might be instrumental in either leading them to Christ or to them seeking God.

The only friend I ever had in real life is an atheist...she is still an atheist, but before me she hated Christians and thought they were all completely crazy.  To her, I'm probably the most human person she's ever known.
