Happy holidays already replaced that wonderful greetings. From Christmas to Xmas. From Christ to santa claus? What is happenings to our leaders and to our christian community? Is Thanksgiving more appropriate than Merry Christmas? Is it the Christmas season that losing essence or the knowledge about God mercy and grace? the date is not biblical, so it is losing its significance? Do have christians have wrong reason to celebrate this season? Is it wrong to say MERRY CHRISTMAS OR HAPPY HOLIDAYS? just bothering me my brethren... Tnx

Romans 14 is a great study regarding our freedoms in Christ in such cases.
Lord Bless,

Exactly. And I choose to celebrate every day as the birth, death, and ressurection of my Lord Jesus. I choose NOT to decorate trees (Jeremiah 10) and stress out and spend tons of money that I don't have to blow. To me, that is idolatry, coveting, lust of the flesh, etc. I have no family, and many of my friends also believe that we should not celebrate Christmas-and they are good, strong Christians. Holidays are just another day to me, because I am by myself. I don't even celebrate birthdays most of the time. I buy presents for friends throughout the year, or help them out if they need help-I don't need a certain day of the year to do that in.
I do buy a lot of stuff like toiletries for the homeless people and put them in shoeboxes for Christmas and take them to the shelter...and I only do it then because that time of year is the only time they do it-or I would do it other times as well. That is my extent of Christmas.
This topic is pretty well exhausted I think. I choose not to celebrate Christmas, but whoever wants to celebrate it can-it is up to them. God bless!
Exactly. That's already been mentioned, thanks! :)
Dear all
I'd like to add a little bright note to all this. This last Christmas season I was wished a Merry Christmas by EVERY clerk that I came into contact with. I know that this may seem like a small thing to most but it was uplifting to me .
God bless
Nancy and all,
I love to take back what the enemy has stolen. He loves to mess up every occasion, but I tell him uh uh Jesus is my Lord and the Holy Spirit guides me to make new memories to replace the unhappy ones and to make every occasion what He wants it to be. It's as simple as that and it works. There is no correct answer to this thread other than what the HS leads each person individually to do to celebrate our life in Christ at any given time. For me, the Spirit brings change and clarity with every day and year of my life. It's CHRISTmas for me, too, everyday of the year and when Dec 25th comes I look on with delight as to what the HS decides for my expression of my love for Christ at that time while the entire world takes note that there is something in the air - that is what is so fun and special to feel and experience! The greatest service to God is in giving and that can be our sacrifice of love at any time of the year!!
Sometimes we have to ask ourselves and the Bible, why are we doing and not doing things? Are we not doing the right things because it had pagan history? Does because those days and those things are first use by the pagans we cannot use them anymore? Do they have the right to use or do those things more than the rights we have? Why did God did not mention the exact date of his birth and Death on the bible? Is the exact date essentials in our faith? Why did God not allow the preservation of the ark of covenant, The epistles, and Etc? Is the date and spices makes us a sad person during the remembrance of His birth or His death? His birth and death cause us to celebrate not in the pagan way but in the right Christian way. tnx
I say Merry Christmas, because I am celebrating the birth of a king whether he was born in Dec or not I am just so overjoyed that God sent us a Savior so we may have a chance at eternal life. Mary Doris
