All About GOD

All About GOD - Growing Relationships with Jesus and Others

Mat. 5:8 "Blessed are the pure in heart: for they shall see God".

Can you really get there?  I drive a truck and the mind is a constant battle field.  I would like to tell you that I keep my mind righteous all the time.  But I don't.  Still the "Be attitudes" written 2000 years ago still challenge me.

Two questions

1 Can we ever reach purity in this carnal state?

2. What do it mean to be pure in heart?

Like I said I drive a truck and might not be back for a few day but I would enjoy reading anyones thoughts on the topic.

Hello bro Mike,

Great questions and topic.

Yes! We can reach purity.

2 Corinthians 1:12 Now this is our boast: Our conscience testifies that we have conducted ourselves in the world, and especially in our relations with you, in the holiness and sincerity that are from God. We have done so not according to worldly wisdom but according to God's grace.

1 Corinthians 4:4 My conscience is clear, but that does not make me innocent. It is the Lord who judges me.

International Standard Version (©2008)
You and God are witnesses of how pure, honest, and blameless our conduct was among you who believe.

2. What do it mean to be pure in heart?

The one that it doesn't mean is that we will have a perfect walk. We will fail here and there, but it does mean that our intentions (MOTIVES) are pure.

Thanks for your input Bro. David

1 Cor. 3: 11-15 "For other foundation can no man lay than that is laid which is Jesus Christ.  Now if any man build upon this foundation gold, silver, preceous stones, wood, hay, stubble:  Every man's work shall be made manifest: for the day shall declare it, because it shall be revealed by fire: and the fire shall try every man's work of what sort it is.  If any man's work abide which he hath built thereupon he shall receive a reward. If any man's work shall be burned, he shall suffer loss: but he himself shall be saved; yet so as by fire."

I believe that speaks of motives for church ministry.  But what about pure heart in holiness?  I know that is a lofty goal.  I do not exptect to reach this side of glory.  But history and the scripture challenges me,  men like Smith Wigglesworth whom prayed constantly and had a powerful ministry.   I do not expect the maricles but would like that kind or relationship wiht God.

Congradulations on your marriage.  God bless you and yours.

Michael

The way i see it, is that it starts w/ the desire to seek those things.  i'm sure w/ all those hours of driving, your mind must be on so many things.  What a great opportunity you have in time, and w/ that heart to serve God,

i'm sure you and Holy Ghost must have great adventures.  You and yours will be in my prayers.
