All About GOD - Growing Relationships with Jesus and Others

Taken from Luke 1:5-25
Zacharias and Elisabeth
What a story!
Elisabeth was barren.
An angel of the Lord appeared to Zacharias to tell him his prayer was heard and Elisabeth would bear a son, who would be great in the sight of the Lord.
Zacharias questioned the angel about this because they were old.
The angel answered, I am Gabriel that stands in the presence of God and sent to speak to thee and show these glad tidings.
Behold, thou shalt be dumb; not able to speak until the day these things shall be performed because thou believest not my words.
The child they had was John the Baptist filled with the Holy Ghost from his mother's womb.
He turned many of the children of Israel to the Lord their God.
There is so much in this story.
Look at how Gabriel, an angel of the Lord gave the glad tidings and yet Zacharias doubted.
Doubt kills our faith.
Look at Zacharias; he prayed; God answered, yet he still doubted God
The angel made him dumb; unable to speak because he DID NOT BELIEVE the word of God.
Listen close! We are in a warfare and if we allow ourselves to doubt God, we will lose our voice to speak.
Stand firm! Keep the faith! Trust God!
No matter how bad it looks, God can change things quick.
Luke 1:11-17
And there appeared unto him an angel of the Lord standing on the right side of the altar of incense.
And when Zacharias saw him, he was troubled, and fear fell upon him.
But the angel said unto him, Fear not, Zacharias: for thy prayer is heard; and thy wife Elisabeth shall bear thee a son, and thou shalt call his name John.
And thou shalt have joy and gladness; and many shall rejoice at his birth.
For he shall be great in the sight of the Lord, and shall drink neither wine nor strong drink; and he shall be filled with the Holy Ghost, even from his mother's womb.
And many of the children of Israel shall he turn to the Lord their God.
And he shall go before him in the spirit and power of Elias, to turn the hearts of the fathers to the children, and the disobedient to the wisdom of the just; to make ready a people prepared for the Lord.
