All About GOD - Growing Relationships with Jesus and Others

I want to share a familiar text with you.

Mat 16:25 For whosoever will save his life shall lose it: and whosoever will lose his life for my sake shall find it.

Without trying to prejudice your understanding, I would ask you, what does this verse mean to you. I charge you to spend a few moments contemplating what Jesus is saying here. They I would appreciate your valued comments and exposition if you will. Thank you.

ok, to me it means in serving God, making him the head of your life, and following his ways, leads to life..
Following personal pursuits in all things that perish, and making idols out of the things perishable, (including family) making them instead the head of our lives, leads to our eventual perishing along with them.
Which is rather like trying to build a house from the chimney down.

@ Charles, thanks brother. I especially liked the finishing touches to your post. Romans 12 and Gal 2:20 is exactly in line with what Jesus was preaching. Thanks for sharing.

Well sister, sounds like you are the product of some good preaching. To repent is to be crucified. To be crucified by faith with Christ is to put the old nature to death. Then we are ready to be buried with Him, and resurrected with Him in Baptism. Then we recieve the newness of life, the infilling of the Holy Spirit. Accept no substitutes. You simply must give up your old life, sin nature, old friends, habits, everything, as if you were actually put to death, before you can have His new life.
Thank you so much for commenting. Blessings to you in the coming new year.
