You Spoke To Me

You spoke to me through things that amazed,
forests, mountains, the sea, and all that I appraised.

When I found that, by You, all these things were made,
the object of praise so gladly did I trade.

Your wisdom is imprinted within the beautiful things I see,
and all that is beautiful you created there for me.

Your magnificent power is evident as continents collide.
Your compassion is revealed in tears I cannot hide.

Your presence within me, so filling I can't breath.
Your love is never ending and sifts me like a sieve.

But the fact that you spoke to me in all I was amazed,
is reason enough to thank You, because now I am raised.

I love you.

During the most rebellious part of my youth, my anger set me opposed to most everything that presented itself as loving. I had not felt very loved growing up and it was hard for me to find it anywhere around me. At this same stage of my life, however, the world, nature, science, astrology... tectonic plates floating on a hot magma core, strings of information inside of all living things... These things consumed my thoughts. It is my nature to resolve questions and put things in order. Everything had to have it's place in reason.

It was in my hunt for truth and reason, that God used to eventually bring me to Himself.

"For that which is known about God is evident to them and made plain in their inner consciousness, because God [Himself] has shown it to them. For ever since the creation of the world His invisible nature and attributes, that is, His eternal power and divinity, have been made intelligible and clearly discernible in and through the things that have been made (His handiworks). So [men] are without excuse [altogether without any defense or justification]," Romans 1:19-20

God spoke to me before I ever knew or believed in Him.

"The heavens declare the glory of God; and the firmament shows and proclaims His handiwork. Day after day pours forth speech, and night after night shows forth knowledge. There is no speech nor spoken word [from the stars]; their voice is not heard. Yet their voice [in evidence] goes out through all the earth, their sayings to the end of the world. Of the heavens has God made a tent for the sun," Psalm 19:1-4
