I was sitting in service tonight listening to the Pastor speak about ' grace in the wilderness' , from Jer 31:1-2.
One of the examples he used was the woman with the ' issue of blood' that encountered Jesus. As the pastor related the story the Lord took my mind to a different part of the story than the one the pastor was on.
He mentioned that the woman received a miracle at the time of her greatest need. While it cannot be argued that she did the Lord seemed to emphasize a different part to me.
The Lord brought to mind the fact that there were many people going past Jesus and many probably brushed against Him. But suddenly Jesus stops in His tracks and says ' who touched me' . The disciples , understandably , were confused because there were so many around Him and He asked 'who touched me'.
Although there were multitudes there in and around Jesus , there seemed to be only one that got Jesus' total and undivided attention. The woman who , in her desperation , reached out in desperate faith. This woman's faith touched Jesus even when He was surrounded by a multitude.
The Lord then asked me when the last time was that I reached out with that kind of faith and ' touched the hem of His garment' . So many times we come to the church and sing about Him or talk about Him , but how often do we 'touch' Him?
Now I don't mean literally of course. But when was the last time that our prayers reached out with such sincerety and urgency that we got Jesus' attention among the multitude who were just ' just passsing by' ?
I'm a little ashamed to say that I can't really remember the last time that I really came to Jesus that way. That's how He wants us to come to Him if we want His undivided attention for our needs. He simply won't respond to anything by sincerety.
I was really placed under conviction by this and just wanted to share this in case anone else needed to hear it.
God bless you all as you seek to approach Him in 'spirit and in truth.
