Scriptural Readings:
Luke 22:42; I Peter 4:1-2
Pain is the last thing that we wish we would have and this is not a strange thing for us too. In fact this is the thing that the Lord Jesus Christ has to endure. What we know about pain is that it lingers but to know exactly why we are hurting and why we deserve to be in pain sometimes is a big question. One thing though that is surprisingly true is that it teaches us a lot of things and turn us into the person God wants us to be.
Pain tells us more of where we are, where we are heading to, what we should be and what should be done. We arrived on this because of our wrong decisions. If pain will not exist though most probably our happiness would lead us to forget who God is. Pain tells us to be more attentive to what God is saying to us. Pain tells us to be stronger in the Lord Jesus. If these things are not true then we will be in big and too much trouble.
Luke 22:42 Saying, Father, if thou be willing, remove this cup from me: nevertheless not my will, but thine, be done.
For the time being that we are hurting, it is very difficult for us to listen to God's voice. We go to this natural process of feeling the pain but if we are going to have solemn time with Him we can feel the healing we needed. Just as Jesus, the Son of God in the flesh prayed for the possibility not to go through with this unbearable pain for us, He opted for what the Father will is. This is the reason why Jesus has to go through with this horrifying pain. The pain that we are having can never be close to what Jesus had to go through with.
I Peter 4:1-2
v.1 Therefore, since Christ suffered in his body, arms yourselves with the same attitude, because whoever suffers in the body is done with sins.
No one wants pain but pain is a part of knowing and transforming ourselves if not for the better then for the best. This is the part that we have to go through with our lives that we never asked for nor dreamed about but is actually rearranging things in order for us to see clearly what God wants us to know, feel and to have His blessings. He suffered(for us)and so are we. We have to put this in our mind but this time with a different attitude and outlook. Remember, we are heading for a place that pain will no longer exist.
v.2 As a result, they do not live the rest of their earthly lives for evil human desires, but rather for the will of God.
Meanwhile, for us who are undergoing pain, let us continue with our prayers. Let us wait patiently for the Lord's healing. Let us cling to His promise that He will never leave us not forsake us. The result of this is again a promise for us that we will never have those earthly desires again(that made us to choose that which is wrong!) and ultimately knowing, His will.
Heavenly Father, we are always in pain. Your love and presence are the things that we need right now. Come Holy Spirit heal and comfort us. We claim these things through your son Jesus our Lord and Savior. Amen.
