What I feared the most...

What I feared the most came upon me!
I feared it so much, that the steps I took to avoid the fear, brought me to it.
My focus was on me and my ability.
Instead of trusting God, I allowed fear to have a louder voice.
I feared hunger so much that, I bought all the food I could.
I said to myself, “now I won’t starve.” Yet, I did not want it all up.
Soon though it spoiled. And what little did not expire, the fire consumed the rest.
I feared I would lose them, so I held on so tight, in no time they were gone.
Was it that I suffocated them by my accusations, never completely trusting them.
Or would they have gone no matter what? Fear would not let me have a chance to know.
I knew poverty, so from my work I was paid in gold.
Fearing poverty again, I buried it out back.
Then after the earthquake, it was gone. So poverty returned.
I got a new car. Yes, you guessed it. Drove so slow and someone else hit me.
Now it’s wrecked. And the fear of it happening, is one of the reasons it did.
Even in my Christianity. I focused on all the things not to do.
I missed the joy in sharing.
The liberty found in a life with Christ, so afraid others would reject me, so why try.
So many things that happen, are out of our control. Fear is not one of them.
Making a choice to dread the worst outcome possible, is completely within our control.
