All About GOD - Growing Relationships with Jesus and Others

Too many today (especially in western culture) want a Christianity that costs them nothing. Salvation is free, but living as a child of God is difficult. The apostles gave up everything to follow Jesus. A great read regarding those who sacrificed much to follow Jesus is Foxe’s Book of Martyrs. Many today, and I am confident of this statement, if faced with such challenges that these folks experienced would walk away and blend back into the world. Do trials cause you to press into or pull away from Jesus? Have you considered what your Christianity cost you this week?

What has my Christianity cost me?  I'm going to give you a different answer.

It's cost me the loss of my road rage.

It's cost me being unable to wait patiently on things.

It's cost me giving up going to have drinks with friends and making a fool of myself.

It's cost me trying to earn love of others by doing things I thought would garner their affections.

It's cost me worrying about trying to please everyone because not everyone will be pleased with me.

It's cost me the attitude I had of putting others down.

It's cost me the ability to feel all alone when no one else is around.

It's cost me the desire to hang out with those who are not in my best interest.

It's cost me being drawn to watch violence and depraved acts on TV because I read the Bible instead.

It has cost me losing my temper to the point I act a fool over little things.

So what has Christianity cost me?

All those things I asked God to please remove.

Am I there yet?  I can only wish.  But He's still causing me to lose things.  ;-)

I've lost many things, including the friendships ...

Yes, rarely (if ever) do we find that Christianity is lived out without a cost. Some of the costs are greater than others, but cost none-the-less.

Another self examination is definitely in order.

I understand that. It is something we all should do on a regular basis.

I want to give my all, at all costs, and at any price. That is something we should all aspire to. Not an easy road, but one worth taking.

I deleted my earlier reply because after being reminded of what these people truly gave to the cause of Christ and the sacrifices they made, there isn't any comparison.  So Thank You for this reminder & this question "What has my Christianity cost me this week?"

Another self examination is definately in order.  I want to give my all, at all costs, and at any price.
