What Easter Means To Me
A sure sign that Spring has come, is seeing cute little girls dressed in pastel colors and white patent leather shoes. Little boys will not be left out. They toddle along in handsome dress shirts and fashionable ties. Top all that with precious smiling faces and you truly see what Eater means to me. It is the reason I smile each day.
Just as we dress our children in new spring frocks, God dressed his son for us. He was not robed in fancy dress. In stead, he was hung on a cruel cross for all to see as men gambled for his clothing at his feet.
No Jesus was not clothes in lovely raiment. It was our filthy sins that he wore. God The Father could not look upon him because of the shameful sin he bore. So He turned his back on our eternal Lord.
Instead of baskets full of goodies and candy filled eggs, Jesus was given vinegar when he said, "I Thirst". They didn't even offer him a glass! A sponge was dipped in the bitter liquid and lifted up to his innocent lips.
His life was not taken. For freely he did give. A spotless lamb was he. He bled and died for you and me. But the job was only half finished then. He said he would live again!
So three days later, my Lord arose! No body did the women find. Just an angel with a song so grand. He is Risen! He lives again!
So as the little children frolic in their Easter Best, please remember that the Easter Bunny is not the real reason we celebrate. For the Bunny can not do what my Jesus did.
Remember the words we sing all year, "He is Risen! Praise God! Jesus Lives!"
