After a week of waiting patiently, my new Bible arrived today. It's a NIV, which I think is perhaps not the most popular? I also have a Standard Revised Bible from the 1950's ( I think the older language use is beautiful and adds to the meaning) so I can use both. The great thing about the new one is that it's the 'words of life' version so has Bible study and also different little thoughts on different passages.
I also have come across Bible gateway which shows you all the different Bible translations for the particular passage. I have found this overwhelming though at times. Maybe I'm trying to reassure myself that I'm reading the Word 'right'.
I need to be aware that God will show me what He wants to show me, as I think I read someone's blog on here about this.
I read something about a soldier giving a page of his last Bible to each of his men/soldiers, and thinking how will this do... but then after, he spoke to one of the men, and this man had come to Christ through a passage on that one page of the Bible. Amen

Thanks Choco/Audrey :) I will certainly enjoy my Bibles x God Bless.
Hi Richard, many thanks for that, I can see each translation is beautiful in its own way, I've seen a NASB today, it has wide margins and is recommended for study, so am hopefully going to get it, God willing.
There were pink ones, green ones and even metal cased ones on Amazon....!Amazing.
God Bless :)
Hi Lucy P. ,
I have a number of Bibles. I use different translations for various purposes: King James Version(KJV) for memory verses (because it's the easiest to memorize), New Living Translation(NLT, 2007 is the better) for general reading, because it flows kinda like a novel, But my over-all favorite for study and resaearch is the New American Standard Bible (NASB with the Greek and Hebrew word dictionaries on-board) I love my collection.
But, hav'ta tell you, Lucy, my wife has had her NIV for years, and wouldn't part with it for anything. That's all she reads.
Enjoy.
Grace and peace.
