To Him belongs the glory

For from Him and through Him and to Him are all things. To Him be the glory for ever! - Romans 11:36

'Oh, the beauty of nature!' we whisper at God's Window in Mpumalanga, South Africa. 'Oh the depth!' we ought to stammer about God. How exultant the examples of His wisdom and knowledge, of His caring, His intelligence and insight! The entire ecology sings of His wisdom and the love immanent in God's plan of redemption.

When Paul sought to look into the heart, the majesty, the eternal love and consuming justice of God, he acknowledge that he was powerless. He could not describe it. He stood like a tiny figure on the banks of the Gariep Dam. The insignificant man would never, ever, be able to drink the full content of the dam or bail it out with a coffee cup. He could only stammer: 'Oh, how great! Oh, what an endless mass!'

Precisely because we cannot, we must!

Precisely because the glory of God is indescribable, we must testify differently to all other created things which praise God passively through their mere existence. Precisely because we find Him indescribable, we must celebrate His glory actively, daily, throughout our lives. We differ from all other things in creation: we were made to be able to and wish to try to celebrate the glory of our God.

Lord, convert my indifference over things into active glorification of You, the God out of Whom, by Whom and to Whom all things are due! Amen!
