All About GOD - Growing Relationships with Jesus and Others

Time of Serenity~

Do you take time for solitude?  In today’s world, solitude is so foreign, that we might talk about it, but not even know if we want it or how we would act if we were face to face with it …and yet, in some part of us, we know that solitude—especially a centered solitude—might set us on a right course with Jesus.

In quietness and confidence shall be your strength. Isaiah 30.15

If that really is true, then you and I must ‘come away’, apart from our activities and endeavor to meet God.  Where is your place, where you can be quiet, where your soul can find rest? Once you have found it--

Shhhh…silence for an hour

Find a place of peace where you can focus on the beauty and simplicity of God’s Word~

Apply these verses, line by line, writing out their meaning~  Psalm 37.4-5

4) Take delight in the Lord,

And he will give you the desires of your heart.

5) Commit everything you do to the Lord

trust him,

and he will help you.

Scripture is fitting for your life.  It points us to God, and shows us how to interact with him; it shows us his heart toward us, and all that he has in mind for us.  He is good … oh, so good.

a time to pray, prompted by george buttrick, an old english minister

quiet yourself.  think about how you are entering the presence of the king of kings.  you have his attention; he loves you wildly.

The widespread Mercy – Call to mind the joys of the journey.   “I thank Thee for … for …”  be specific. Name those things for which you are thankful:

Intercession – Love sees faces, not a mass ~ bear on your heart the burden of those for whom you pray.                For whom are you praying?

Petition – We should not fear to lift our earthly needs before Eternal Eyes, for we are held in Eternal Love.

Adoration – Prayer ends “In the name of Jesus Christ, Amen.”  Amen: so let it be.  beautiful!

Take a prayer walk in nature – by the beach, in a park… Ask God to reveal himself to you~

Listen …

How can you delight yourself in him?  What can you commit to him, that you can give over?  Stop laboring, stop trying to control everything … commit it to God, and then pick up a rock and hurl it as far as you can as a gesture of giving it over to God.

Be still …  know … he is God.     Psalm 46.10

It has been good to be with God.
