THE REAL DEAL
“And we know that the Son of God has come, and has given us understanding so that we may know
Him who is true; and we are in
Him who is true, in His Son Jesus Christ. This is
the true God and eternal life.” (John 5:29 NASB)
Misrepresenting God is a serious thing.
When we say something that is untrue about God, then we are misrepresenting him. Jesus in John 17:3 said, "This is eternal life, that they may know You,
the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom You have sent.”
God has given us his word (the Bible) to reveal to the world the truth about who he really is. Jesus showed us so much about God. He himself being the God Man was able to show us the true God that had been distorted by religious leaders, traditions, and false teachers.
The way we live our lives reflect what we believe about God.
So why wouldn't the Devil try to distort our perception of God to keep us from knowing who he really is? If you believe God doesn't care about your thought, your attitudes, and actions then it will effect the way you live your life.
Jesus revealed to us that God loves us like a father loves his children.
This revelation of God changes everything about how we relate to him. He isn't a vindictive, angry God who is just waiting to zap us when we make a mistake.
God as a father reflects care, love discipline, provision, relationship, and family.
Jesus also showed us that sin is terrible.
Sin is so terrible that he went to a cross, and he had to die to break the power of it, and pay the penalty to redeem us from it.
When some one tries to make you believe that God is a God that doesn't care about sin, that it is alright to live in sin, then they have misrepresented the truth who God is.
False doctrine misrepresents who God is.
When I was about 3 months old I was sprinkled in a church that taught that infant baptism was all that was needed for us to be saved. This is blatant false doctrine. My whole family believed this false doctrine, and they live sinful lives and thought they were just fine because they had the ticket to get to Heaven. False doctrine is one of the greatest tools to misrepresent God with. We need to study the Word of God and make sure that we have not misrepresented who God is in our beliefs. The Holy Spirit will lead us into the truth. He is the Spirit of Truth.
In the 1970s over a thousand people committed suicide in a place called Jones Town in Guyana because they threw the Word of God away, then a man distorted the truth about God to them.
False teachers are always trying to distort who God is. There are false teachers who call themselves Christ in the Earth right now seeking out those who they can devour.
Know the real deal and you won't be taken by a counterfeit.
When a bank teller, or a store clerk is trained, they study the real money so much that they are able to catch a counterfeit money when it is place before them.
This what we need to do in order to make sure we have the real deal, and are not being taken in by a counterfeit. "Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth." (2 Timothy 2:15 KJV)
