The Middle Verse in the Bible

“It is better to trust and take refuge in the Lord than to put confidence in man.” (Psalm 118:8, Amp)

The next verse is similar:

“It is better to trust and take refuge in the Lord than to put confidence in princes.” (v.9)

Say, isn’t that what the Bible is all about? Isn’t it so we will come to know our Maker and put our trust in the One who made us? Besides, He wrote the manual! He knows us, and He knows what is best for us….

…but…

…we stupid humans think that worldly wisdom and ways are better than God’s ways!!

Oh, may we be not as foolish, and think that human wisdom has the answer for us! Let’s look to God first. Let us remember Who our God is, and reverence and honour Him, realizing that HE has the answers to life.

“The reverent and worshipful fear of the Lord is the beginning and the principal and choice part of knowledge [its starting point and its essence]; but fools despise skillful and godly Wisdom, instruction, and discipline.” (Proverbs 1:7, Amp)

“The reverent and worshipful fear of the Lord is the beginning (the chief and choice part) of Wisdom, and the knowledge of the Holy One is insight and understanding.” (Proverbs 9:10, Amp)

Any knowledge apart from God cannot be true knowledge. Any wisdom apart from God cannot be true wisdom.
