Matthew 19:17
"Why do you ask me about what is good?" Jesus replied. "There is only One who is good. If you want to enter life, obey the commandments."

Matthew 28:19 Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in[a] the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you.

Luke 11:28
He replied, "Blessed rather are those who hear the word of God and obey it."

John 14:15
[ Jesus Promises the Holy Spirit ] "If you love me, you will obey what I command.

John 14:21
Whoever has my commands and obeys them, he is the one who loves me. He who loves me will be loved by my Father, and I too will love him and show myself to him."

John 14:23
Jesus replied, "If anyone loves me, he will obey my teaching. My Father will love him, and we will come to him and make our home with him.

John 14:24
He who does not love me will not obey my teaching. These words you hear are not my own; they belong to the Father who sent me.

Remember the words I spoke to you: 'No servant is greater than his master.' [ John 13:16] If they persecuted me, they will persecute you also. If they obeyed my teaching, they will obey yours also.

If you obey my commands, you will remain in my love, just as I have obeyed my Father's commands and remain in his love.

To understand how important obedience is to God a few questions to ask yourself.
Jesus learned obedience through the cross.
If Jesus had not obeyed, death would not have been conquered, our sins not forgiven, we would not be confident to go before God, no reconciliation. No mercy, no grace. Still under a curse. No eternity. The devil's work would not have been destroyed. The list is endless.........
Who are we to pattern ourselves after?
Have we not learned obedience through the cross of Jesus? This has already taken place.
Do we not have fullness in Christ?

And the new testament had not been written at the time of Christ.
How would you truly know how to love thy neighbor without reading the most Perfect Law on how God wants you to do it, His way, because every aspect of truly loving your neighbor is in the Law.
