"...O Daniel, servant of the living God, is thy God, Whom thou servest continually, able to deliver thee from the lions?" - Daniel 6:20
Look how King Darius addressed Daniel. He called him - "servant of the living God."
What he was doing here was contrasting Daniel's God with the lifeless idols of the Medes and Persians.
Indeed, his God was "a living God" - One Who has life... imparts life... and is able to preserve life. When placed into a life - or - death situation, this servant lived despite the king's edict - simply because His God - Who can giving the living long life - intervened.
Today, the Holy Spirit wants to burn these words - "servant of the living God" - deeply on your soul and in your spirit - to the point where your life is never the same again - where your entire perspective on life - its trials, tragedies, and troubles - is totally transformed.
You are a "servant of the living God." Whether you find yourself in times of peace or persecution...prosperity or lack...divine health or sickness... life or death - nothing or no one can harm you to shorten your life - unless God permits it.
Fear not, little flock! You belong to Jesus - the Resurrection and the Life. He will take care of you. Don't let fear grip your soul any longer!
You may feel as though you are a "prey" in the "teeth" of your enemies. They are likened unto wild beasts - which are voracious, fierce, cruel, with tearing power, and are thirsting for your blood.
Nonetheless, God has two promises from His Word for you this day.
One is found in Psalm 124: 6 which says - "Blessed be the LORD, Who hath not given us as a prey to their teeth."
The other is found in Job 4:10 - "The roaring of the lion, and the voice of the fierce lion, and the teeth of the young lions, are broken."
We all know that Satan is the "roaring lion" who "walketh about, seeking whom he may devour" (1 Peter 5:8). But we need not fear him - though he may be fierce as a young lion - for his works have already been broken and destroyed by the Lord Jesus Christ on Calvary.
Though the calamities that he throws at you may seem ominous and life-threatening, they will not prosper. "The living God" will see to it that each device comes "to nought" and is rendered "of none effect" (Psalm 33:10).
God will fight for you. He will openly disarm the devil on your behalf... strip him of his power to do you any hurt...and break his teeth - shutting his mouth and causing his lies to be silenced that are set against you.
Never forget - the God Whom you serve is "the living God."
You should have been dead a long time ago. The fact that you aren't is just one more proof of His existence.
So don't run the next time that you sense the "roaring lion" coming your way.
Just "stand still" and watch God's salvation unfold before your very eyes (Exodus 14:13).
May God Bless His Word,
Connie
