The Backslider

The first thing that you must know is that someone who has never been saved can not be a backslider. Only those who gave their lives to God are going through this stage, and be sure to know that you will experience this for the rest of your life!

To become a backslider doesn’t mean that it is the end. Through Jesus Chris our Lord there is always a way if you trust Him enough to help you through it. But be sure to know that God will punish you for your transgression just as a loving Father will punish his disobedient child.

“If his children forsake My law, and walk not in My judgments; if they break My statutes, and keep not My commandments: Then will I visit their transgression with the rod, and their iniquity with stripes. Nevertheless my loving kindness will I not utterly take from him, nor suffer my faithfulness to fail. My covenant will I not break, nor alter the thing that is gone out of My lips.” Psalm 89:30-34 (Amplified bible).

But you can see that even though you will have to be punished seeing as God has basically two major sides (Love and Justice) he will never forsake you or chase you away. He loves you with all His magnificent glory and wants you to come back to Him.

What backsliders should understand is that ALL Christians are backsliders. Even the saintliest of Saints were backsliders. Abraham deceived when he called his wife his sister (Genesis 20: 2), Moses who lost his temper and lost his chance of ever entering into the Promises Land (Numbers 20:10-12) and David committed adultery with Bathsheba and then killed her husband to hide his sin (Psalm 51 - David asks for forgiveness of his sin).

So you see my family even THEY went through the same thing as we are going through today.

“The backslider in heart [from God and from fearing God] shall be filled with [the fruit of] his own ways, and a good man shall be satisfied with [the fruit of] his ways [with the holy thoughts and actions which his heart prompts and in which he delights].” Proverbs 14:14 (Amplified bible).
But this need NOT be the way it ends. Jesus Christ, the three in one, loves the backslider and the unsaved so much that he WANTS you to come back to Him. He wants you and He loves you and if you ask you WILL be forgiven and be restored by God and experience the renewing of mind IF you can trust Him enough.

“If we [freely] admit that we have sinned and confess our sins, He is faithful and just (true to His own nature and promises) and will forgive our sins [dismiss our lawlessness] and [continuously] cleanse us from all unrighteousness [everything not in conformity to His will in purpose, thought, and action].” 1 John 1:19 (Amplified bible.)

After asking God to come back in to you life and give you a renewing of your mind be sure to know that you will never be able to get away from Him again. IF you trust him. “The sheep that are My own hear and are listening to My voice; and I know them, and they follow Me. And I give them eternal life, and they shall never lose it or perish throughout the ages. [To all eternity they shall never by any means be destroyed.] And no one is able to snatch them out of My hand.” John 10:27-28 (Amplified bible).

Also what ALL Christians should do is to get involved in church activities such as attending church every Sunday, joining a home cell, a bible study group, help out IN the church, join a ministry. Become active within God. “How can I live FOR God without God?” (Not in the bible :)
But basically what it ALL boils down to, and this might sound VERY harsh is; Turn or Burn. There is NO other choice. Jesus is the ONLY way!
“Jesus said to him, I am the Way and the Truth and the Life; no one comes to the Father except by (through) Me.” John 14:6
“All whom My Father gives (entrusts) to Me will come to Me; and the one who comes to Me I will most certainly not cast out [I will never, no never, reject one of them who comes to Me].” John 6:37 (Amplified bible).

A backslider needs to turn BACK to God and also the “non-backsliders”! All of us sin daily! But we are saved and by giving Jesus Christ reign in our lives we will live FOREVER! But I can’t exclaim this enough. ALL must return BACK to the Son of Man and ask Him for forgiveness!
