He has me quiet while I start this new life, observing and listening. God doe's not have to prove to me that He hears and answers prayer even when things look and seem impossible. I have witnessed His work in my life and watched as He removed many obstacles as if they were mere bowling pins in a bowling alley, one right after another.Though at times things looked a bit bleak in our human terms, I knew God would not forsake this child and leave me homeless for too long. Our God is a faithful and merciful God and in this past week He has shown me just how awesomely merciful He really is. I was not going to use names but I want the world to know about a man God placed in my path only two weeks ago. For even though I knew him only briefly, the message our meeting carried to us both would be very powerful. Ken was plaqued by MANY health problems.Prescription drugs helped some but I saw in his eyes and in his face so much pain that I could not imagine him surviving through this next winter. I do not know if he ever accepted Christ into his heart and his life as we only had a few ten minutes or so of conversations before I came upon him one night outside , looking up at the sky and praying to God to take him and release him from his pain. He did not know I was there and not wanting to interupt his prayer, I stood there and prayed for him as well.I prayed that if it was God's will for him to live then to please heal him completely and if it was not, to release him from his agony. Ken never know we prayed together that night but God heard him call out to Him. God heard a man who believed in Him and had faith enough to cry out to his Heavenly Father. I saw a man who believed and I watched God's tender mercy fall down upon him.
Yesterday afternoon (two days after that prayer)I had to call 911 for the first time in my life. They did not carry this man from his apartment yesterday, Jesus did that some time during the night. I am not sad, I saw how much pain this poor man was in and I am amazed once again how God hears and answers our prayers. I am amazed by His mercy.
One of Ken's final acts of kindness was moving out of his home and into a smaller one in order to give a homeless woman and her dog a place to live. But he now lives in a much more beautiful and bigger place. As Jesus said
JOHN 14;2
In my Father's house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. 3And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also.
No , God does not have to prove to me or this precious soul who now rests in His loving hands today, that He hears our cries and answers our prayers. Our Father who loves us so very much is merciful.
Rest now dear Ken and know now that you are loved and you leave behind many who cared for you even if you did not know it. Your kindness to a homeless woman will not be forgotten by me and most importantly, not by our Loving Father either. Rest now, in the perfect peace of Jesus! AMEN!
