Brilliant takes from Romans, two.

'This is one of your top three Morning Briefings ever!' an email came across my screen.

While the encouragement was really great, let's face it - I was just highlighting parts of each of the first 10 chapters of Paul's life-changing letter to the Romans.

And the other part was true too--I heard from many who were overwrought with our study of the book. Hence, the reason I shared striking verses from each of the chapters. Honestly, the scriptures were straight out life-giving, like you will see here from the 15th chapter! Oh, and why the pink font? Delineating from the Bible and my comments which of course are in pink.

Romans 11 – Oh, the depth of the riches of the wisdom and knowledge of God!  How unsearchable his judgments, and his paths beyond tracing out!  Who has known the mind of the Lord?  Or who has been his counselor?  Who has ever given to God, that God should repay him?  For from him and through him and to him are all things.  To him be the glory forever!  Amen.  v.33-36  My friends, these verses can easily be made a part of our prayers and praise.  I love the notion of closing my morning prayer with ‘for Lord, it is from you and through you and to you all things!’ Amen.

Romans 12 – Therefore (because it is ‘from, through, and to him are all things), I urge you, brothers, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as living sacrifices, holy and pleasing to God…

->and because we are free in him->Do not be conformed any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind.  Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will. v.1-3

Romans 13 – Clothe yourselves with the Lord Jesus Christ, and do not think about how to gratify the desires of the sinful nature. v.14

Romans 14 – Accept him whose faith is weak, without passing judgment on disputable matters. v.1

Romans 15 – If you know me at all, you probably have heard me quote this verse or perhaps I even prayed it over you. May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit. v.13  Even on this very day, I am saying to the Lord, “God, fill me with all joy and peace because I am trusting in you, so that I can overflow with hope by the power of your Holy Spirit that is in me!” prayed with clinched jaw in all honesty, pleading for the life of one of my children. My friends, grab ahold of this verse for yourself and pray these words.

Romans 16 – Now to him who is able to establish you by my gospel and the proclamation of Jesus Christ, according to the revelation of the mystery hidden for long ages past, but now revealed and made known through the prophetic writings by the command of the eternal God, so that all nations might believe and obey him—to the only wise God be glory forever through Jesus Christ!  Amen. v.25-27
