All About GOD - Growing Relationships with Jesus and Others

"It is better to trust and take refuge in the Lord than to put confidence in man.
It is better to trust and take refuge in the Lord than to put confidence in princes." (Psalm 118:8-9, Amp.)

I know I shared these verses before, and that verse 8 is the middle verse in the Bible, but this morning, after mentioning about giants yesterday, my thoughts went back to David and Goliath. (Read the whole story in 1 Samuel 17.)

Here's the thoughts that struck me! Look what happened just before David went out to fight Goliath:

"Then Saul clothed David with his armor. He put a helmet of bronze on his head and clothed him with a coat of mail, and David strapped his sword over his armor. And he tried in vain to go, for he had not tested them. Then David said to Saul, "I cannot go with these, for I have not tested them." So David put them off. Then he took his staff in his hand and chose five smooth stones from the brook and put them in his shepherd's pouch. His sling was in his hand, and he approached the Philistine." (1 Samuel 17:38-40, ESV)

Just as David couldn't go in Saul's armour, because he hadn't tested them, so we can't fight our giants with someone else's methods or anointing. If we put our confidence in man's methods, we will walk away defeated.

God has made each one of us unique. Oh, we thank God for that! Let us not try to be like someone else, no matter how much we admire them, and no matter how successful or victorious they have been. Of course, we can learn from others, but we cannot BE someone else. God anoints each one of us with giftings, and He enables us to stand and fight.

So let me say again:

"It is better to trust and take refuge in the Lord than to put confidence in man.
It is better to trust and take refuge in the Lord than to put confidence in princes."

Then we can bravely face our giants as David did and say:

"I come to you in the name of the LORD of hosts, the God of the armies of Israel, whom you have defied." (1 Samuel 17:45, ESV)

Hi i really love your wisdom for real we as Christians we want to walk and preach and witness under other people's anointing forgetting that we are peculiar and just as the nose cannot perform the functions of the eye then we cannot go on other people's annointing. God has annointed each one of us for a different purpose so therefore let us ask the Lord to show us the way he wants us to serve him.
