when going to the Catholic Church think about the following things k...
why do we have big doors for Church?
why is the church usually built like a cross from top view?
why do we have wooden pews our however the seating looks in church?
why is there such a long path towards the altar?
what is the significance of the altar?
why do people kneel?
why do you have to stand when the gospel is being read?
why is the priest not married?
why is their formal choir music?
why is church only an hour long?
why do we do the sign of the cross?
think about the order of things throughout mass
think about what happens when the priest says things
Did you know that the first reading is from the old testament?
the 2nd from the new testament?
and the last reading is the gospel "the good news"
have you ever thought about the order of how mass starts?
why do we enter at the back of the church?
why do the last go out first then the first leave last out of the church?
Did you know that each reading ties in for a reason to bring our a very inspirational message?
Did you know that each time you go through mass you are actually moving through history with God then into the present?
For example,
we go in as sinners then we repent and we praise God for being merciful
then we renew and profess our faith into diving deeper into the word of
God to first learn about the history of what was known about God in the
past then into the new testament about Jesus the son of God into his
present time of life then the it's the priest's job to connect all stories
together to give a good inspirational message of righteousness and truth to get us to
live faithful, righteous, stewarding holy lives to better ourselves and to be good examples to bring Glory to God.
then the priest sends you out saying something like this
GO NOW IN PEACE TO LOVE AND SERVE THE LORD
so what does that mean to you?
listen carefully in mass its only an hour but it goes fast when you are concentrating on Jesus amen.
I hope you learn to practice discernment at all times
