Hey, so this is my first blog post. Don't really know what I'm supposed to say.
I passed 9th grade with a B averge, I found out I know how to draw this year, I'm writing a story that I'm taking a break from because I wrote 35 pages in a week. I drew these pictures to>I have more but because school's out I don't have a place to scan them at the moment.

nice drawing
My son started started drawing anime like about age 5 when he and his mom lived in Virginia and I was in Florida: most of our interaction was by my sending him rpg games like Zelda, Final Fantasy and lots of fantasy books (much of as sneaked to him via his grandparents on visits since mom's whichever boyfriend usually thought it was all satanic); as a result he developed quite a skill in anime and was learning all he could about digital animation/art by high school, around which time we kept up to date playing various online rpgs. Junior year he started doing freelance work for Sony on Everquest 1 & 2 and World of Warcraft (which we still play together) which continued in Technical college. Now he's out in Seattle, WA where he's full time digital artist for Blizzard (Diablo III mostly) with his current Goth/punk girlfriend which I get to meet in a few weeks when he comes for his annual summer birthday visit. (*grins* interesting 2 visits the last 2 years when they got to meet Annea, my then Goth/techno punk girlfriend who was working on her MFA in digital photographic manipulation and painting, then moved back to Germany early last summer). Anyway, his art got him through a very rough period from 8-18 with 5 different step-fathers in a blighted area near the naval base. He's slowly backtracking to work on his spiritual life and picking up an interest in marine biology as a hobby; (and still trying to figure out how to beat me in online mmorph duels. Someday, but not yet)!
Anyway go with your art and writing if it's in your blood and calms the demons within!
Mastery mostly comes just through time and doing, like most things in life.
Couldn't agree more.
A lot of modern digital artists use Prismicolor pencils and markers since they have matching color sets for their basic designs and storyboards. The markers are nice since one end is a precision .5 mm tip and other a chisel point. I use them on projects that are going to be made into digital masters although most of my commissioned work is using authentic hand made pens & inks. College opens up a large range of art media and crafts since the initial cash outlay for each is beyond most high schools. About the cheapest and easiest to learn basic principles, but that is usually learned/explored by those interested in the written word, theirs or others. Lots of poets, writers at least dabble with it. It's sort of a Goth thing also since a lot of history is involved. My start in art was calligraphy, then more or less decided to do the entire range of Celtic art/crafts since the intricate style fits my mindset. I putter around quite a bit with nature photography since I've always been a science nerd plus I'm an avid hiker/camper/canoer. I plan on jumping back into nature drawing next year (both pencil & pen and ink) after I prune my lifestyle back to a more basic and elemental level. Keep at your drawing, it's a wonderful way to subconsciously work stuff out that bother you, eventually it gets to be a form of meditation or prayer, where nothing exists except the image inside of you and the tip of the pencil or pen. Mastery mostly comes just through time and doing, like most things in life.
was planning on doing pin and ink after I get better with a pencil, my hand's pretty unsteady at the moment so I'd just be waisting paper if I tried now. I thought about pottery, but because we don't have that at school I'll kearn during colledge. And right now I'm more focused on getting proportions right so I haven't practiced much with nature drawing... maybe I should focus on that for a while so I can draw my backgrounds better.
Was busy uploading photos and missed your reply: woodshop is pretty handy to pick up useful skills, can save lots of $$ making/repairing old or broken furniture. You should try a bit of pen & ink drawing although it requires a lot of confidence since mistakes are permanent. Sculpting/pottery has it's moments, being able to carve/sculpt opens up a lot of art/crafts. Some of my lady friends made hemp and beaded jewelry while they learned more advanced techniques, jewelry they sold paid for their supplies and cappuccino's and muffins. Artist group here is Artists4God but pretty much inactive, am trying to revive it. If you are into nature at all "The Beauty of Nature Created by God" has lots of photos constantly being added. I have several albums of art on my profile, mostly Celtic. AAG has many fine groups and discussions; good people above all! Good place to explore and learn. Enjoy!
You're a good drawer. :) And woodshop, that's an excellent thing to be interested in.
Yes for anime and Toonami. Other than writing that's it, but I am planning on entering woodshop next year.
Ah, pencil, colored pencil: is anime your favorite drawing style. Do you do any other media of art/crafts? Toonami fan?
