Would you like to have an extra dose of faith to overcome the situation you are in right now? Often people will say they wish they had the faith of a great healer or evangelist.
But, Jesus says that everyone has been given the measure of faith (Rom. 12: 3), and all that you need is faith the size of a mustard seed! (Mat. 17: 20) Why then, is it so hard to get your prayers answered, while others seem to have little or no problem?
First of all, being a person of faith and loving God, you know that:
"He is the rewarder of them that diligently seek Him." (Heb. 11: 6)
According to the definition, diligently means: earnestly, full heartedly, and conscientiously. Therefore, an overcoming kind of faith will develop gradually as you give Him your full-hearted attention.
Overcoming faith is comprised of seven basic elements that are crucial to a victorious outcome. Those components of overcoming faith require that in your prayer time you must be:
· Specific (Mark 10: 51)
First you need to know exactly what you are asking the Lord for. Even though God already knows and understands what you need, He wants you to ask Him specifically.
When Bartimaeus cried out loudly to be heard by Jesus in the crowd, Jesus asked what he wanted. It was obvious that he was blind. Jesus, however, wants to know whether, like Bartimaeus, you have the faith to be whole - or maybe just enough for part of your problems to be solved.
· Courageous (Josh. 1: 9)
Remember when Joshua entered the Promised Land? O.K. they finally got there; now what? He had no idea what to do next or what enemies he would encounter. God's answer:
"Be strong and of good courage; be not afraid, neither be thou dismayed: for the Lord thy God is with thee withersoever thou goest."
Fear is the opposite of faith. The closer your walk with the Lord, the more your trust in Him will grow. This will eventually produce bravery to the point that you'll want to take on any enemy because you know the Lord is with you!
· Persistent (Eph. 6: 13)
Keep on keeping on! Stand and be persistent. It's the time to stand on the Promises of God. He said that He will never leave you nor forsake you. Take Him at His Word.
· Watchful (1 Pet. 5: 9)
Be vigilant because your enemy the devil would like nothing better than to get you out of faith. Recognize his tactics and resist him steadfastly in the faith. God will strengthen you.
· Thankful (Phil. 4: 6)
Thankfulness may be the most important component of overcoming faith. It lets God know that in faith you already have the petition you have asked for because you know that you know that He is faithful.
· Patient (Jas. 1: 3)
"The trying of your faith worketh patience." The longer it takes for the answer to manifest in your life, the more patience is necessary - but it will pay of!
· Confident (Phil. 1: 6)
"Being confident of this very thing, that he which hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ."
"If we know that he hear us, whatsoever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we desired of him." (1 John 5: 15)
