All About GOD - Growing Relationships with Jesus and Others

Hi,

I have been following a blog here and a conversation with regards the changing scene for children at schools across your country. It has been tagged onto the end of a blog about the disapearing church in the U.S.A.

I am intrigued that parents appear to believe it is the responsibility of the state or education department to teach their children about God and his Kingdom.

I read in the bible that God tells parents to bring their children up in the fear of The Lord.

And I read that it is for parents to discipline their own children.

I read that parents are responsible for the way that their children behave and also the way that they are directed in their lives.

I also read that children follow in the footsteps of their parents and therefore it is the parents responsibility to act in the way they would like their children to follow.

I can’t see any where in the bible that this responsibility should be delegated to others?

Least of all a governmental department?

Maybe it is time that parents started looking at the way they behave themselves, watching their own speech and behaviour, concentrating on their own walk with The Lord and perhaps then the children would have some good inspiration and fruit in the way they behave will follow.

If the children learn from their parents, then they will naturally bring what they learn into school and it will overflow to other children and also into other areas of life.

You seem to be looking at this the wrong way around. It is for you the church to be a light not visa versa?

Maybe the fact that parents won’t be able to depend on the school to do these things will place the responsibility back where it belongs?

Blessings to you

Tim
