Reflecting on Life

Today is my 44th birthday. I was thinking as I walked our little dog, Tequilla Rose, today, about all the things we have been through. I have been fighting Multiple Sclerosis since 1997. I am no longer in a wheel chair. In fact, on most days I can even walk without my cane! God has been so very good to me.

I am married to my best friend. This past Valentines Day we celebrated our 18th wedding aniversary.

I was not able to have any children of my own due to health problems. But four years ago, we were asked to take in our two nephews. So I am blessed to have the role of a mother even though I am not known as one.

We had a beautiful home a year ago. I liked it very much. It was surrounded by beautiful flowers. Then Jim lost his job and we lost the house. But we were blessed to travel through several states while he searched for a job. I met many new people and learned alot about city life.

Though we are now back in my hometown in Tennessee, We live in my sister's home, and my boys are ever so trying every day, I am near family.

So as I pondered on what to do with the money my inlaws sent me for my birthday, It suddenly hit me,

I am blessed. Most people do not know what its like to trust in a God they can't see. Some do not even believe in Heaven. So after, clearing my head and giving thanks for one more year,

We loaded up our boys, my sister's boys and a young man from our church youth group and took them all out for pizza!

My mom asked if that's really what I wanted to spend my birthday money on. I couldn't help but answer, "Mom, I don't have much. But I do have these boys and thats enough to celebrate!" So we all ate pizza and had a grand time!
