RAMBLING: Where You There?

I stood trembling a distance away and watched as the soldiers roughly laid Jesus on the cross which lay on the sun drenched ground. The blood from many wounds stained the cross dripping into the cracked earth quenching its thirst.
I saw the blood as it flowed from His head on which His crown of agony pierced his noble his noble brow.
I saw the roughly hewed cross soak up the blood from his his torn back. I heard the hammer as it drove each spike through His hands and feet. I heard the cross as it was dropped into its place.
I watched at the third hour as the skies as God hid His face from His son. I watched with tears as the spear was thrust into His side and as blood and water flowed mingled down his sweat stained side.
I heard Him cry, as the earth shook, into the darkness and  the thunder, triumphantly crying “It is finished.” I did not, could not understand how He could forgive Your enemies, now with triumph in His voice declaring it is finished. What is finished precious friend? And how could You forgive the cruel deeds of your enemies?  There was such love in your begging Your Father forgive them? Speaking of which Where was God when you needed Him the hour of your greatest need? Could He not have sent ten thousands of His angels to rescue You, to free You? Why didn’t He? For surely there is no love or forgiveness in my heart for what those hypocrites did to you for thirty pieces of silver.
I watched with breaking heart as they took You down from the cross, Your mother cradling Your wounded body to her heart and as they prepared your tortured and broken body for burial.
I watched in sorrow as they laid You in a borrowed tomb. As they rolled the huge stone in front of the entrance my heart shattered with grief, tears like rain flowed freely from my lost vision.
