RAMBLING:$30

T's the season to spend! Spend! Spend! Bargins are everywhere and parking lots are overcrowded with fiesty shoppers. The hustle & bustle is overwhelming...oh yes all them folks collecting dollars for their charities. Yesterday there was a "new twist" in Christmas. Where I work we have a public food line that goes from 3:30pm - 4:45 pm. Folks can come and enjoy a free meal or two or more. I had stepped out of the dinning room for a minute or so and when I returned I noticed that the dinners (about 25 or so) were all smiling and with envelopes in their hands. My co-worker informed me that a woman had come in and started handing out envelopes to all dinners and in each envelope was $30. The woman left as quietly as she arrived. WOW! what a different way to give. I mean who goes about giving away cash to so many? Something to think about eh? It got me thinking why would anybody do that? Because they care. How simple is that? We give to those whom we know because we love them. Watching Phillip Yancy yesterday he said regarding the subject of prayer that Jesus commanded us to pray for our enemies to do good to them that are not saved. Here is a woman giving away money so others can have a bit of a Christmas. But then I know someone who has given a great deal more. God gave His only Son and His Son gave His life. Boy giving a gift to a loved one suddenly seems so insignificant comapred to what I have been given God. I do not mean to say that the gifts we give are not from the heart I am sure they are. I know many are hurting this Christmas I don't mean because of shopping. There are those who have lost loved ones, there are those who are hurting because family has rejected them, loss of jobs, depression and so on. We have the opportunity to give a little of ourselves to help others. Give freely remember God loves a cheerful giver. Man...she gave away $30 per person!
