PSALM 97 DEVOTIONAL
Reading this Psalm this morning made me think about how many people throughout the ages that have tried to predict a time and date on “the end of the world.” I am not sure how many have said through the years that this date or that date “the world will be no more.” It just struck me just how amazing Our God is to know from beginning to end. It caused me to really ponder and realize the depth of meaning that He IS THE ALPHA AND THE OMEGA!!! At one time “doomsday prophesies” left me with a feeling of fear. I did not put a lot of stock in them but in the background of my human mind they were a bit scary. I thank God for giving us the truth in His Word and I no longer look upon the day of our Lords return as “doomsday” Actually,GLORYDAY comes to my mind!! The Power, the Majesty and the awesomeness of God really hit me in this Psalm. Just how ready are you for His return?

God has given him a name which is above every name – that at the name of Jesus
every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth; and that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord…" Philippians 2:9-11

Psalm 97 (KJV)
1The LORD reigneth; let the earth rejoice; let the multitude of isles be glad thereof.
2Clouds and darkness are round about him: righteousness and judgment are the habitation of his throne.
3A fire goeth before him, and burneth up his enemies round about.
4His lightnings enlightened the world: the earth saw, and trembled.
5The hills melted like wax at the presence of the LORD, at the presence of the Lord of the whole earth.
6The heavens declare his righteousness, and all the people see his glory.
7Confounded be all they that serve graven images, that boast themselves of idols: worship him, all ye gods.
8Zion heard, and was glad; and the daughters of Judah rejoiced because of thy judgments, O LORD.
9For thou, LORD, art high above all the earth: thou art exalted far above all gods.
10Ye that love the LORD, hate evil: he preserveth the souls of his saints; he delivereth them out of the hand of the wicked.
11Light is sown for the righteous, and gladness for the upright in heart.
12Rejoice in the LORD, ye righteous; and give thanks at the remembrance of his holiness
