Powerful men brought low

Let's talk about three people who were affected and effected by pride . ANd they are King Uzziah in 2 Chronicles 26, King Nebuchadnezzar in Daniel 4 , and King Herod in Acts 12.

Lets begin with King Uzziah who  had the right attiude always ready to please the Lord and sought him first. AS the word of God says in 2 Chronicles 26:5-  While Zechariah was alive Uzziah was always eager to please God. Zechariah was a man who had special revelations from God. And as long as the king followed the paths of God, he prospered, for God blessed him. So we see that he was doing things to please God. But when he really started getting promote he begin to not have the right attiude with God. He lost his respect for God, he did not come to God with the correct attuide. ALthough he was not physically shouting I am the greatest. God can clearly see through are hearts and minds. As the word of God says in Jeremiah 17:10-  I, the Lord, search minds and test hearts.
    I will reward each person for what he has done.
    I will reward him for the results of his actions. Now you we see how pride affect his mind. Where he literally thought they he can come before God's presence and pray to him in his way. And God does not like that kind of attuide and that's why he reward him with leprosy because that's the way God looks at pride it is digusting. Not only that but it destroy him, because it cause him to be seperated from God and he lost his right to be king. AS the word of God says in 2 Chronicles 26:16-

But when he became powerful, his pride destroyed him. He was unfaithful to the Lord his God. He went into the Lord’s temple to burn incense on the incense altar. ¹⁷ The priest Azariah went in after him with 80 of the Lord’s courageous priests. ¹⁸ They opposed King Uzziah. They said to him, “Uzziah, you have no right to burn incense as an offering to the Lord. That right belongs to the priests, Aaron’s descendants, who have been given the holy task of burning incense. Get out of the holy place because you have been unfaithful. The Lord God will not honor you for this.”

¹⁹ Uzziah, who held an incense burner in his hand, became angry. While he was angry with the priests, a skin disease broke out on his forehead. This happened in front of the priests in the Lord’s temple as Uzziah was at the incense altar. ²⁰ When the chief priest Azariah and all the priests turned toward him, a skin disease was on his forehead. They rushed him away. Uzziah was in a hurry to get out because the Lord had inflicted him with the disease.

²¹ King Uzziah had a skin disease until the day he died. Since he had a skin disease, he lived in a separate house and was barred from the Lord’s temple. His son Jotham was in charge of the royal palace and governed the country. ANd now let's look at King Nebuchadnezzar  who thought it was his own might that led him to be king. Terrible mistake to have that kind of attuide. Let's look at Daniel 4:30- ⁹ Twelve months later, he was walking around the royal palace in Babylon. ³⁰ The king thought, “Look how great Babylon is! I built the royal palace by my own impressive power and for my glorious honor.” ³¹ Before the words came out of his mouth, a voice said from heaven, “King Nebuchadnezzar, listen to this: The kingdom has been taken from you. ³² You will be forced away from people and live with the wild animals. You will eat grass like cattle. And seven time periods will pass until you realize that the Most High has power over human kingdoms and that he gives them to whomever he wishes.” Do you see what happening to here when we carry pride, it literally affects are thinking. And the effect was God made him act just like how he is thinking.Like animal that has no common sense. God is the one who does the promoting. As the word of God says in Psalm 75:6-7- For promotion and power come from nowhere on earth, but only from God. He promotes one and deposes another. And now let's look at

^{King Herod who did not give glory to God. AS the word of God says in Acts 12:21 -}

An appointment with Herod was granted, and when the day arrived he put on his royal robes, sat on his throne, and made a speech to them. ²² At its conclusion the people gave him a great ovation, shouting, “It is the voice of a god and not of a man!”

²³ Instantly, an angel of the Lord struck Herod with a sickness so that he was filled with maggots and died—because he accepted the people’s worship instead of giving the glory to God. And the effect was it cost him his health and made him rotten. WOw a king became foul. We know God says proud people cannot be in his sight. Because he is the only one who should be exalted. And he will be exalted. AS the word of God says in Isaiah 2:17-   All the glory of mankind will bow low; the pride of men will lie in the dust, and the Lord alone will be exalted.So what can we learn from these powerful people. That it does not matter what your status is. God does not like pride.We should never come to God with the wrong attuide like King Uzziah. ANd we should always remember who is the one who gave us things and not ourselves. And certainly we should always give God the glory when people compliment us.So what do we do when we have the mind of pride. We shoul be like our loving Savior. As the word says in Philippians 2:5,&7&8 -  Your attitude should be the kind that was shown us by Jesus Christ, but laid aside his mighty power and glory, taking the disguise of a slave and becoming like men and 

- And he humbled himself even further, going so far as actually to die a criminal’s death on a cross.So when you feel that attuide remember what Jesus did and let him clothe you with his humility.
