Man, that sounds like paradise!! Who in our society wouldn't want that?
David uses this phrase in Psalm 16:11 ...
"You will show me the path of life;
In Your presence is fullness of joy;
At Your right hand are pleasures forevermore."
We can see here that God is not a kill-joy! But many think of Him as being a God of restrictions, where you can't do this and you MUST do that. So instead, they blindly live for their pleasures.
But I've discovered in my study in James, that this doesn't work. In chapter 4 we read this:
"Where do wars and fights come from among you?
Do they not come from your desires for pleasure that war in your members?
You lust and do not have.
You murder and covet and cannot obtain.
You fight and war.
Yet you do not have because you do not ask.
You ask and do not receive, because you ask amiss, that you may spend it on your pleasures."
(v.1-3, NKJ)
What they were seeking, they were not getting. Why is that?
Well, these are my thoughts...
God is not a kill-joy!!
His desire for us is that of abundant life. Look what He gave Adam and Eve in the garden! And there they had access to the Tree of Life, which they never tasted of.
But we humans seek an Eden without a relationship with our Maker.
Life is only found in the Giver of life.
So let us come to the Tree of Life -- to Calvary's Tree!!
