The corner store on old Route 66 in Flagstaff fairly glistened and sparkled from its shelves of various shades and hues, and I finally succumbed and walked through the doors. What in the world was with all of these pretty rocks, crystals and stones?

Stepping a little closer, I saw they promised to deliver quite a lot to individual wearers and believers! Funny thing, for a small town, Flagstaff has a number of storefronts that promise spiritual healing and ways to find peace, from psychics, Eastern healers, New Age practitioners and Native American herbs and remedies. There are great worships centers like this one too:

The search for inner peace is a multi-billion-dollar industry. 'B' not 'M'...million. People search high and low for tranquility, sometimes being willing to sell their souls in the process, and still it eludes. But then ... Jesus. In considering Jesus' promises about the Holy Spirit, surely inner peace is the greatest of his gifts. As we have seen, Jesus referred to him as the Advocate, the Helper, the Counselor! And then, as Jesus looked from once face to the next face of his disciples that night before he died, he made this proffer,
"Peace I leave with you. My peace I give to you.
Not as the world gives do I give to you.
Do not let your heart be troubled, and
do not be afraid." John 14.27
The only agent of God on earth to bring us such peace
is the Holy Spirit.

If only a little sign would bring it into being.
Or perhaps we could just buy a ticket and jump aboard the Peace Train...hmmm.

(Pictured-a train pulling into Flagstaff, along Route 66)
we can seek true peace only from God.
More tomorrow, but I pray this over you now:
"The Lord bless you and keep you;
the Lord make his face shine on you
and be gracious to you;
the Lord turn his face toward you
and give you peace." Numbers 6.24-26
God, we turn to you for inner peace and calm. We ask you to supernaturally impart to us your gift of peace.
'Want peace? Your something required is looking to God, bowing your heart and knee and seeking it from him. The Holy Spirit of God longs to give you peace.
