Here’s what we know - Election eve, 2020.
With emotions so very high . . . we are wise when we make sure our feet are firmly planted on truth. Not who is telling the truth in our culture, but eternal supernatural truth that does not change with the season or times. In the last year, a song has risen to popularity and has a lot to say to you and me today as we remember that no matter what is happening in our streets or even in our homes, no matter who is elected, our God is the Way Maker, Miracle Worker, Promise Keeper and Light in the darkness.
God has shown us that not only has he been, but will continue to be our~
Way Maker. Throughout the Bible, history documents how God made a way for his people. Do you remember the Exodus? Pursued by the Egyptians, God made a way through the Red Sea, by parting the waters. Need a great story? Read Exodus chapter 14, in which we find "But the Israelites went through the sea on dry ground, with a wall of water on their right and on their left.” (v.29) and how about this verse for us today? The Lord will fight for you; you need only to be still. (v.14)
That wasn’t the only time God parted the waters for the Israelites. Recorded in Joshua 3, not unlike the Red Sea, God parts the waters of the Jordan River for the Israelites, so that they cross over on dry ground into the land of promise. This crossing marks the end of the wilderness period for Israel - so symbolic, so significant. [do you need to leave a wilderness season in your rearview mirror?]
Christian, trust the Lord; as these two examples clearly show, our God is the Way Maker. No matter your need, if you look to God in prayer, place your trust in him, he will go before you and make the way. Don't miss the point that he just may do the miraculous for you, he may do the unexpected! God does not operate as we do, nor is he limited in any way. Our good, great and mighty God is our Way Maker.
Miracle Worker - O, we know that the pages of scripture are filled with the miracles of God, from Creation through the spread of the Gospel throughout the world. But I love this miracle of Jesus from Mark chapter 5:
A large crowd followed and pressed around him. And a woman was there who had been subject to bleeding for twelve years. She had suffered a great deal under the care of many doctors and had spent all she had, yet instead of getting better she grew worse. When she heard about Jesus, she came up behind him in the crowd and touched his cloak, because she thought, “If I just touch his clothes, I will be healed.” Immediately her bleeding stopped and she felt in her body that she was freed from her suffering.
At once Jesus realized that power had gone out from him. He turned around in the crowd and asked, “Who touched my clothes?”
“You see the people crowding against you,” his disciples answered, “and yet you can ask, ‘Who touched me?’ ”
But Jesus kept looking around to see who had done it. Then the woman, knowing what had happened to her, came and fell at his feet and, trembling with fear, told him the whole truth. He said to her, “Daughter, your faith has healed you. Go in peace and be freed from your suffering.”
Just touching the hem of his garment IN FAITH made her whole. Listen to me now - that was her desperate prayer; it was her desperate plea ~ simply touching the hem of Jesus' garment. In my darkest hours, when I did not have the words to pray, I pictured myself doing the same - reaching out and touching the hem of his garment, knowing he alone could fix my world. [If you only knew it, this is a gift I am giving you; you see, we often do not know how to pray or are too undone to form the words of a prayer. That is when we realize
it is our faith to reach for him to which he responds.
Our God is a Miracle Worker. He is not and will not be knocked off his throne by an election, a virus or economic downturn, neither your unwanted divorce, diagnosis or depression.
Do not let your faith in an almighty God be shaken because of fear
of an election or any other circumstance in your life.
Besides being our Way Maker and Miracle Worker, he is also our Promise Keeper and Light in the darkness . . . check out the song link below.
With love,
Christine
