I wondered where you were old friend,
"the last of you" I'd not pretend.
For we go back a long old way,
It's no surprise you're back today.
A big ole piece of apple pie...
A women that has caught my eye.
I never know how you'll appear,
but there you are year after year.
Your name I've found my Lord has seth,
So many times referred as "Death".
What have you brought to me this day,
that snare you set to have me sway.
Did you not know I wait for you,
with Father's Word I will ensue.
So Death, old friend, what do you bring,
show me now where is thy sting.
It isn't like it used to be,
the sting with such control on me.
Have you cloaked yourself in someone dear,
Is that you behind that tiny tear.
Pretend I cannot see you dressed in gold.
Oh Death, I've tasted you a thousand fold.
My concern is not that I'll resist...
It's, forgetting that you exist.
