Without faith it is impossible to please God. You must believe that he is, AND that he rewards those who diligently seek him—those who keep the faith! Are you a person of great faith, or do you waver? Let’s look again at the life of Abraham, and his great faith. Paul writes in Romans 4.18-25:
“So the promise is received by faith. It is given as a free gift. And we
are all certain to receive it, whether or not we live according to the
law of Moses, if we have faith like Abraham’s. For Abraham is the father
of all who believe. That is what the Scriptures mean when God told him,
“I have made you the father of many nations.” This happened because
Abraham believed in the God who brings the dead back to life and who
creates new things out of nothing.” Romans 4.16-17 Abraham trusted God … he trusted that God was worthy of his faith—worthy because of who He is—a faithful God. Your faith is only as good as that person in which you put your faith. Only God is truly worthy of our faith. Man
will let us down, the church will let us down, those we love we fail to
meet our expectations . . . loved ones, we must keep our eyes on God.
Paul continues: “Even when there was no reason for hope, Abraham kept hoping—believing that he would become the father of many
nations. For God had said to him, “That’s how many descendants you will
have!” And Abraham’s faith did not weaken, even though, at about 100
years of age, he figured his body was as good as dead—and so was Sarah’s
womb.” 18-19 Remarkable! Note with me that faith is not necessarily logical; in fact, many times it is not. At 100 years of age, it made no sense that Abraham and Sarah could bear a child! Yet, Abraham kept believing, despite their advancing ages. After all, God is not bound by time, nor does he see time as we do—he is an eternal God, and deals in the infinite, not the finite. God
had said it, Abraham believed it, and he continued to walk in faith,
even though human reason would surely have marked him a fool among his
people. Does it seem like you have been waiting a very long time for God to answer your prayer(s)? Stay strong in him; he sees around the corners that you cannot. Truly,
though continuing to believe in faith for God’s promises is often not
logical in the human realm, in the divine one, it is very reasonable
because of the object of our faith.
Read on: “Abraham never wavered in believing God’s promise. In fact, his faith grew stronger, and in this he brought glory to God. He was fully convinced that God is able to do whatever he promises. And because of Abraham’s faith, God counted him as righteous. And when God counted him as righteous, it wasn’t just for Abraham’s
benefit. It was recorded for our benefit, too, assuring us that God will
also count us as righteous if we believe in him, the one who raised
Jesus our Lord from the dead. He was handed over to die because of our sins, and he was raised to life to make us right with God.” Amen. 20-25
Our faith is in the promises in God’s Word. He promised a Messiah, a Deliverer, and in the fullness of time, Jesus Christ was born. God will count you and me righteous because of our faith in Jesus Christ. Despite the human condition, despite the difficulties of life, our faith
supersedes them; we trust God without wavering. ‘Reminds me of James’
teaching on faith without wavering: “But when he asks, he must believe
and not doubt, because he who doubts is like a wave of the sea, blown
and tossed by the wind. That man should not think he will receive anything from the Lord; he is a double-minded man, unstable in all he does.” 1.6-8
Trust God without wavering in your faith--He is who he said he is, and He will do what he said he will do. Nothing takes the place of faith in our lives.
