Teaching children to pray is a vital part of passing on our faith. Hebrews 4:16 reminds us that Christians can "come boldly to the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need." It's important that our children learn that they can also go to God, our loving Father, who is there to help and strengthen them. He wants them to build a relationship with Him through prayer as well as Bible study. Children learn in many ways. One of the most effective teaching tools is by example. It is important that our children understand that we, as Christian parents, talk to God in prayer on a regular basis.
The formal examples they see of asking a blessing at mealtime, of anointing and prayer for illness and of prayers at Church services provide important lessons about our relationship with God. But children also need to see that parents spend time with God in personal prayer on a daily basis and that we should go to God first when faced with a difficult trial or an important decision.
The instructions that Jesus Christ provided in the Lord's Prayer (actually His outline for prayer), found in Matthew 6:9-13 and Luke 11:1-4, are useful in teaching our children how to pray, before bedtime or shortly after dinner, is an ideal time for the entire family to kneel down and use this outline of prayer as a teaching tool.

I would like to share with you about this children ministry i have in my community... how God do the increased.. as i plant and water these children His Words... I am very grateful to see the works of our Almighty God to these children... for about months now, we're tackling about the PRAYER,... everyday I do pray for these children ( ages 3-10 ) that they may have the hunger and thirst to God's Words... and to have a good relationship to our Lord Jesus Christ... yes... little by little I can see how God transforms these children. Last month while I was sick, I was so bless to hear these children to say this words: " Tita Kaka( that's my nickname ), we pray every night to our Lord Jesus Christ to heal you."
and that strengthen me to continue my ministry to them and train them to be prayer warriors...as I teach my own children how to have a genuine relationship to the Father, Son and Holy Spirit, I know God will prepare these children too as the next generation as good example to our community.
God is good all the time!
To God be all the glory...
Oh I was soooo inspired by your post...we too try to train up kids to pray....
I really like your pics and LOVE that little girl singing...
I love to hear kids pray even when my kids sometime pray "Lord please encourage mom to give me grace for the punishment I deserve" Anyway thanks, keep up the good work
Thank you. The Best Age to teach Prayer is when they are very young. They learn to pray and practice throughout the youth and even into the old age. We practically seen the change in our son when we taught him to pray morning and night. He learn to pray for all of us. He is now five years old and going to school. He believes in prayer. Yes, every father and mother should teach their Children to Pray and Pray more.
