My dad got sick when I was 12 years old. He lost his legs for two years because of his sickness and died when I was 14 years old. I remember so many good things about my dad but one thing that sticks to my mind and I will always treasure in my heart is this one incident. I was acting fresh, talking like an unsaved teen. I was answering my mom in an unapropriate tone and thought I knew it all. My actions made her so mad and promised me good spanking right then and there (lol). I got scared because I knew she was serious. I remember running to my dad who was in bed with no legs and hid behind him. I remember him stretching his arms like Jesus did on the cross to hide me and told my mom to forgive me if I asked for forgiveness and to let it go. yes, she was mad but could not do anything about it because in those days when my dad spoke, it is finished.
This scripture is so dear in 1 Corinthians 1:26,28 The Word tells me that the foolishness of God is wiser than men and the weakness of God is stronger than men....
I am always reminded of my earthly dad physical weakness, love, wisdom and strength. He was sick in bed, and could not do anything physically but yet I ran to him for protection knowing I will escape the punishement from my mom. This scripture reminds me of Jesus on the cross, even though He was weak and dying and to the human eyes looked helpless, He had the power to save all who ran to Him. He still does!
It looked foolish for me to run to my dad, he was crippled and could not do anything at that moment but one word from him silenced my mom's anger and caused me to repent.
What an awesome God we have, heaven and earth adore Him! All He has to do is let His voice be heard and His presence is enough. He is all wise and strong, good, merciful and just. It is His goodness that lead men to repentance.
Even when He looks like He is not doing much, He is still stronger and better than any man on this earth.
I am thankful today to my heavenly Dad for the memory of my earthly dad. I believed God can do anything no matter what.
