My Feelings For You

To show you your value in this heart of mine,
I thought it quite helpful to set to a rhyme.

I thought little words with big meaning would certainly do,
I searched through great love poems and a love song or two.

I thought it important that in my writing it came through,
Just how deeply I feel for you.

So I went to the one writer whom expressed it the best,
searching for words that would stand up to my quest.

Known for His wisdom and compassion in kind,
but I couldn't find anything like I had in mind.

No pear-shaped or flowering words used He,
no eloquent rhymes to translate my feelings for thee.

The words that I did find just perfect for you,
said He over and over though so simple and few.

So here are His words expressing my feelings so true,
just simply He puts it "I love you".
