2 Timothy 4:1 I charge thee before God.. 4:2 Preach the word; 4:5...make full proof of thy ministry. In the last 40 years or so , we have seen a rise in the area of Superstar preacher's and evangelists "in the USA". If we look at some history, hindsight , and honesty , it would be reasonable to say that more harm has been done than good , as a result of them. There are no biblical examples of preachers being superstars. We can make all the excuses for them we want , but it simply will not compute at the end of the day when measured up to God's word. The book of acts was our last biblical example of how the church was to be built and established , and bigger and better was not exemplified. Superstar churches [ such as it is ] has taken away from the true body of Christ way more than it has given. It has taken from us the fellowship of being ministered to personally and any personal touch the body has to offer. Many of the local churches sit empty as a result. Why should folks go when they can just stay home and watch church. That was not what the Apostles were trying to teach the body , nor should we. The order was simply P.R.E.A.C.H the Gospel and the Holy Spirit would do the rest ! Could you call on your superstar evangelist or pastor in a time of need and get his attention. I can answer that. N.O. For example , I was down in a southern state last week and stopped by to say hi to an ex superstar evangelist whom I watched on television for years. I love his music "Still do" and him also, however when I went in the headquarter building and asked for him, I was simply told by a secretary that he and his wife had to go to lunch and couldn't accommodate me. Now if I had told them I had a check for 50,000 dollars for their ministry , I am almost sure the red carpet would have been rolled out for me." this has happened every time I have ever made an effort to say hi to them by the way". Ladies and Gentlemen , is that really God's way for the church ? I don't think so. The churches responsibility isn't to create superstars but rather display the acts of Christ. Isn't there a scripture in the word about taking up our cross daily and following him ? Of course there is. Kings belong in palaces: Preachers belong in Pulpits ! God bless you on your journey !
