All About GOD - Growing Relationships with Jesus and Others

In my new home, there are many many areas that I can work on by planting my plants, flowers, yard décor or whatever suits my fancy. These areas have already been established somewhat & I pretty much have a blank canvas as far as flowers go. They also have a good foundation to work with. There are palm trees in some areas. In other areas, I have Yucca Elephantipes, Cordyline Australis Atropurpurea, beautiful hot pink Snowball Bush, Day Lillis, Lemon tree, Peach tree, beautiful Pine Trees that I’ve never seen before, Rose Bushes all over the place, and many different kinds of shrubs. There is one tree that favors a Weeping Willow & it’s to die for.

It’s a beautiful layout but it could use some work. It needs the dead plants clipped away, dead flowers & leaves removed, some fruits taken off and where flowers have bunched up over the years, they need to be separated.  There are many that need lots of watering. Some need replacing. There are also many bare spots within these foundations to work with.  This is where I come in; I love to fill in the bare spots with beautiful flowers. Just to watch them develop & grow excites me. I know you farmers & gardeners know exactly what I mean.

One thing I’ve noticed in the flowers is they all turn in one direction. No matter where you plant them, they turn in the same direction eventually. The reason for this isn’t the wind though this could have something to do with why they bend. The reason they turn the same way is they are trying to soak up as much sun as they can get. They want to face the sun. That’s how we should all be in our Christian walk, we should always want to face the Son. He’s the source of everything – our life, our hope, our growth, our power, and our strength.

In our Christian lives we have good foundations in the Son. We’ve been established in the kingdom. However, there are always things we can work on like the dead things in our lives that need clipping away. It could just be that small little something that needs to be clipped away in order for the rest to grow. That’s why we cut away dead flowers so the plant can stop using its energy to try to continue growing that dead flower & it begins working on growing the flowers that are alive and beautiful. John 15:2 says, Every branch in Me that does not bear fruit He takes away; and every branch that bears fruit He prunes, that it may bear more fruit.

We sometimes get all bunched up & need separating.  We get clouded by the things of the world & need to separate what is priority. Our focus should be on the Son. We need to understand what is truly important which is Christ. Once we have Him at the top of the list, the rest falls into place. When separating the priorities, it also gives you more room to grow.

We also have those dry periods where we need to be watered. For I will pour water on him who is thirsty, and floods on the dry ground; I will pour My Spirit on your descendants, and My blessing on your offspring… Is 44:3. So, let’s walk looking at the Son & seeking what He has for us & making Him our priority. Prune the things that are not of Him & rid yourself of things that can take your focus off of Him. -- Tammy Henson
