If you were to turn on your television and watch the news, you would probably be very discouraged and disappointed. Sadly, most of the news is not news; it is mostly bad news. Just to name a few: wars, natural disasters, riots, and financial collapses.
The problem with this is that we tend to pay too much attention to bad news, and whether we admit it or not, it affects us and every decision that we make in life.
But here is the good news; you don’t have to live your life according to the world or local news. I know people have made you believe that everything affects your life. I’m here to tell you that to an extent it does but it’s all up to you. Whatever you allow to affect you, chances are that it will. But it doesn’t have to be this way.
In the1980’s the U.S was going through a recession, and I remember reading an article on a very small town in the U.S. They had a sign as you entered the town that read “We understand that the country is going through a recession, but, we decided not to participate in it”. Wow! That’s the kind of attitude that we all should develop.
Remember this: life is 10% what happens around you, and 90% how you react to it. So, it’s all up to you.
“And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, so that you may prove what the will of God is, that which is good and acceptable and perfect.”
Romans 12:2
