Jesus came into the world because God loves us. He came to forgive and set us free from our sins. He came to give us the gift of God's grace, so that we could be reconciled to God.
Jesus meets us where we are in the reality of our lives as they really are. He came with a strong, clear message: God loves us and can't bear to see us separated from God and from one another. So Jesus came that we might be reunited and have a relationship with God.
To do that, he had to go the cross. It wasn’t glamorous or spectacular. It was in the real life and death of Jesus that God revealed the most important message ever delivered to the human family. And it was in the resurrection that the message was ratified for all eternity.
But that’s not all. It’s not just the saving cross we proclaim. It is also what Jesus taught us about how we are to live our lives in God. Salvation in Christ is not an intellectual proposition. We were called to follow him, to trust him, and to live by what he taught us - come what may and no matter what the cost.
So, as we receive Christ and come to know and love him, let our hearts be drawn to God. Let our thoughts and deeds be shaped by the example set by Christ.
Let us boldly and lovingly set out to share the good news with others that have not yet come to know our blessed Lord and Savior.
