All About GOD - Growing Relationships with Jesus and Others

The recent debacle concerning Shirley Sherrod is a sad commentary on the state of politics within our country.

How low has our moral fiber shrunk to when individuals purposefully seek to destroy anyone with accusations they know beforehand are false and individuals rally to their defense. Add to that the feigned righteous indignation in support of these individuals by those who bemoan the fact that any one who dares suggest that not even politics can justify such malevolent actions.

Where is the patriotism when for want of political or financial power advocates of any political party falsely make statements designed to incite fear and racial strife which if it continues may cause the tearing apart of our country?

The greatest alarm must be sounded against those who while professing to be Christian are supportive of or embroiled in such tactics.

The greatest question is where are the churches, Christian organizations, and individuals decrying the acceptance of such hypocrisy and deceit?

The view that it is just politics cannot and must not be acceptable to anyone who presents himself or herself as a follower of Christ regardless of political party or persuasion.

Regardless of whether the aforementioned despicable actions come from those on the left, the right, or in the middle, as followers of Christ we must take a stand insisting of any one desiring our support that they must campaign focused upon the correctness of their position on issues not on spitefully demonizing their opponent.

We must insist that those in office and those who support them present their case based upon facts, real facts, not misrepresentations no matter how skillfully done. A win at any cost attitude should not be allowed to be spoken from pulpits, sanctuaries, and churches.

Christians must recognize that we shall be held accountable for those we support as well as the manner in which we act towards those we oppose.

Have we forgotten that we are not to bear false witness?

Have we forgotten Isaiah 5: 20-23 and Proverbs 6:16-19?

Do we not believe what Jesus said in John 8: 44?
