“It Took My Breath away”

I remember how I felt the first time I held you in my arms;

I wanted so to protect you, and keep you from all harm.

I remember when God sent you; it was on a cold December day;

love overwhelmed me, and it took my breath away.

I remember, as you grew, the mind you had was all your own;

the adventures you explored, never fearing the unknown.

When you took your first step; I tried not to let you sway,

and every time you would fall, it just took my breath away.

I remember all the good times of sweetness we had,

the laughter that you brought, even when times were bad.

But then something happened and God said you couldn’t stay,

He needed you in Heaven, and it took my breath away.

If you were here I could tell you how I’m glad that you came.

I would give you a hug, and sing a song with your name.

I know you’re safe with Jesus; you now walk in your new day,

but I miss you and the memories still take my breath away.
